I have an inter_iew at 8.25 tomorrow morning. It's for a job I'd REALLY like although I'm up against three other people so I know that, realistically, there's a good chance I won't get it.
Wish me luck though fellow fabsters - I could do with all the positive vibes I can get

Hi Em, just because you're one of four doesn't mean the odds are against you
Before you go in, breathe deep, relax your shoulders, smile and knock em for six
Good luck |

Remember it's not just what you know about the job, but how you sell yourself!
Oh& a tip, they're not just inter_iewing you, but you're inter_iewing them as potential employers- think of a few questions to ask them!!!
Good luck! |

Well said - it is about asking questions, too.
Best of luck and we are all keeping everything crossed |

Oh and remember the 7 p's
Prior Preparation and Planning Prevent Piss Poor Performance
Make sure you research the company and think about the questions they will ask you and make sure you have at least a couple to ask them |

arrive before your inter_iew time.
when you shake hands look them straight in the eye and with a firm grip.
smile but also retain a serious look when they ask the important questions.
do not use the words 'actually, basically' everybody does and it is boring and repetitive.
you need to stand out from the rest!
so when they ask you what you will bring to the job do not reply with 'im conscientious' everybody says that and again it is boring and avoiding the question.
be positive. read up about the company you want to work for on the internet before hand and memorise something about them.
last years sales figures? branches worldwide? profit margins? does the company involve itself in charity work and if so who benefitted?
if you know a bit about them and can demonstrate it at a inter_iew chances are they will think you have a interest in them and they will be impressed more with that.
any skills you need to work for them they will train you for as your shown a desire to work and interest in the business.
relax, good luck.
all the best. |

I've taken all your wonderful comments on board.
I've done my prep ... took a drive to the location this weekend so I don't get into a flap trying to find it in the morning, have researched the potential employer, thought of some relevant questions to ask and thought of suitable replies to anything they may ask me. I've also anticipated and negatives they may be thinking (such as my age)and thought of a positive spin on them.
I have my certificates ready, outfit chosen and prepared and will be having a (relatively) early night. I don't think I can do any more so I'm going to chill for the rest of the evening.
If I don't get it, it certainly won't be due to a lack of preparation! Will keep you all posted.

Good luck hun!! When I went for the inter_iew for this job I was up against someone more experienced who'd worked for the brand before so was convinced when I left I wouldn't get the job...was surprised when I got offered it x |

My one piece of advice is: unless you can waffle brilliantly - if you don't know the answer to a question or have no experience of something - be honest and say you don't know.
Of course - this ploy won't work on *every* question they ask... |

Mission accomplished! I got the job - was inter_iewed in the morning and they phoned later the same day. Apparently I 'blew them away' (their words not mine).
*does a happy dance*
Thanks for all the support and advice lovely fabsters xx |

Wow! I'm so pleased Emm. Well done you.
And can I take this opportunity to comment on how many forumites have been successful in getting new jobs, promotions and the like recently! If this forum is representative of the country we must be heading out of the double dip! |
