I think it kinda misses the point of the Addams family concept. That they were all considered outcasts with their own unique traits, and their differences from the rest of society is what made them so close as a family.

The new one looks like they've just given Tim Burton a blank cheque to make his own Hogwarts and shoe horned the Addams family concept into it.
