I'd use £50 to take myself to Bem Brasil for a meal and some beers then I think I'd donate the rest to a charity. Half to Mind and half to Great Ormond St. |

"None of you have given it to charity.
You worthless shits."
In the context of someone giving me money I'd assume they wanted me to enjoy it.
Besides I do enough and give enough to charity alreadt |

I disagree with the concept of charity. Charity is a crutch for the failings of government."
With all due respect, that's bollocks. |

Most charities are money making companies where someone, normally at the top, is earning an absolute fortune and many of them already have top jobs elsewhere !! |

A lot of people won't be able to afford to donate to charity soon, if they can at all now.

Go private for something I'm waiting for on the NHS.
Beginning to think the method to shorting waiting lists is to make the list long enough, so that you could die waiting.. |

When you say most, what percentage are we talking about? There's 170,000 ish charities in the UK. I think it highly unlikely most of these are raking in that much money.
I don't disagree that there are a number of the well known charities that make a great deal of money and pay some very high wages but I think most charities are small and run largely by volunteers.

I think that is generally an argument put forward by people to justify no giving to charity.
Of course charities pay some of their staff. Often less than they'd earn in the private sector. I donate monthly to guide dogs, tell me how a charity that size can function without paid staff? |

Check out the bosses of the big supermarkets and see how much they earn from charities each year on top of their £650k salaries ! |

A high percentage of charities struggle to support everything that they do. Often the projects, such as education, go unnoticed. These projects make zero money and are just costs.

"£1,000 ... what would you do with it?? "
My old man has just had to fork out a small fortune on roof repairs, unexpectedly. Paying for it as a pensioner is proving difficult, so I'd give it to him... Maybe he'd be proud of me for once |
