Oh God, please ! no DVD box sets, no novelty toys or gadgets from websites that might get played with once and then gather dust, no aftershave which we probably don't like, and definitely no sweaters with pics of snowmen on

I'm happy to recieve whatever people buy me its the thought that counts, but i will not wait for someone to buy me something i have always wanted or even wait for them to ask what i want.

Instead if there's something i really want i just go and buy it anything else is just a bonus even if its a lump of coal

A Red Letter Day is always a good choice ... what bloke wouldn't want to drive a Ferrari? Or a digger?

Failing that, get him a toy. Men are big kids at heart

I dont do Christmas presents as such but that is another story. If I did buy something for somebody it would be an experience thing, tickets for theatre, concert, exhibition etc.. or an adventure day somewhere or even a voucher for a nice restaurant or steak house. Would that be any good?

I am not really bothered in receiving gifts to be honest!! I am probably the hardest person to buy presents for!

" Lucy what do you want for Christmas?"

I don't know'

I am totally amazed by the amount of people getting massively into debt for xmas and then complaining about it. My friend buys every single thing that her kids put on their xmas wish lists. She's so far in debt it's untrue.

The receptionist at work is a single mum of 3 and managed or rather did not manage to spend £1000 on each of her kids a couple of years ago on a wage package that was below £16,000!!! No amount of hinting that she could not afford it did the trick. She ended up having to declare herself bancrupt in the end. But I guess she was compensating and the shopping made her feel good albeit only for a short while.

Kids without money trying to keep up with other kids with little money who are trying to keep up with kids who have money. Sad to see from the trainers, clothes to phones it racks up so much debt for parents.

this year i have told people (family) to tell me what they want within a £50 budget

tell me where it is, what it is and how much it costs and i will buy it

if they can't think of anything they will be getting cash

there aren't many of us, so it won't work out too expensive

others (friends) have been told that christmas prezzie trading has now stopped and be thankful if they get a card lol

as a person surrounded by adults - only 1 child in my family - i see it as more practical than merely 'taking the magic out of christmas'

those i love get treated and surprises throughout the year - i don't need convention to tell me when to spend
