Not sure having shed loads creates happiness unless you're seriously altruistic.

Too little though can make you unhappy

It doesn't make you happy but financial stress is a major effect on people's happiness. So without that stress, you would be more secure to be happy.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Money doesn't buy happiness. But it buys shoes. And coffee. And dogs. Also fuel. And turbo charger intake hoses. Those things make me happy.

Seriously though, some people can be happy with a little, some people can't be happy even if they've got a lot.

It isn't the money that matters but the person.

Saying that, it's easier to find joy when you're not worrying about a roof over your head or having enough to feed yourself or your family.

I wonder how many people with copious amounts ask if it makes them happy?

I guess it can help, but you need to have a disposition to want to be happy regardless.

Money definitely buys happiness in a sense. It provides security, more opportunities and can open up your life life with so many choices. I'd be absolutely thrilled and so happy if I had money, my life would have everything I've ever desired. But there's lots of things money can't buy and I guess that's why so many wealthy people are miserable. You can buy a woman with nice tits but she'll only care about what's in your wallet and she will fuck the gardener whenever you go for a drive in your fancy Tesla.

It would be helpful to survive and live comfortably however I don't think it beings happiness.

We're not short if money and could always do with more.

But I think money is more of a band aid, if you're down you're down.. no matter how much money you have

This! 1,000,000%

It's actually not a question of 'does money make you happy' but the simple fact that an absence of it can make people both seriously unhappy, as well as unhealthy (physically and mentally) and reduce life expectancy.

Some people are never happy no matter how much money they have.

Others are content with their lot.

But even a small amount of extra money can make a huge difference to many, especially at present.

No matter how little material things mean to you, the essentials of life (a roof over your head, food, heat, water etc.) all cost money.

Life is easier with enough money so you don't need to worry about bills, health care etc. The idea that wealthy people are unhappy and poor people are happy just doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

I've earned crappie money and I've earned good money. The job with the good money definitely didn't make me happy but the luxuries it gave me definitely cheered me up. I now run my own business and although I earn less, I'm happier in my working life.....but extra cash would always make me happier

It's a very fleeting happiness though! Was for me when I got a inheritance and cashed in a pension few years back yes I enjoyed spending it especially on others but its what I call temporary happiness that is different from true happiness! Im very lucky.

I've had points in my life with no money and no happiness. What I've found is having a bit of money I spend it on my friends and family. I work part time and do a lot of interesting events and activities with them.

I'm happy. I could earn way more working full time but life is to short.

Balance.

Life is simpler when you don't have to worry about money. I've been in that situation and it was stressful and not something I'd want to endure again.

Money may not buy happiness, but it can mean you can work a 4 day week instead of a 5 and spend time with your kids, grandkids or your hobbies.

Up to a certain level money is indeed associated with happiness. It is patently obvious if you don't have enough money to feed your children you'll be less happy than those who can.

Once a comfort threshold is reached then additional money has little long term effect. A windfall such as winning the lottery will undoubtedly cause a short term increase in happiness but once the new level of available money becomes routine then a person defaults to how they were before.

Money may not buy happiness but it sure as hell can help a lot with stress and worry. I wouldn't want to have millions or own a massive house or a flash car etc but I'd love to have enough so that I never have to stress about bills or if I can afford heating oil etc or at the moment I would give anything to be able to get my a close family member the medical help they needs asap so that they doesn't have to wait for treatment for something that is life threatening. So while no it may not buy happiness but it can save a hell of a lot of stress and worry.

In a past relationship we had plenty of money, and neither of us were happy.

I've had times where I've not had any money, as in going to the supermarket with a small list and £17.00 to buy what I needed, I was happy I wasn't in a poor relationship, but the money worries have been an incredibly hard burden. So I wasn't happy then either.

I'm about to have a change in my life which will mean I will no longer need to worry about being able to pay bills at times, and buy food. I already know that I'm going to be very happy, and not just because of the financial aspect, but that will help my stress levels immensely.

It's the other way round here. We're by no means wealthy but we are comfortable. We are expected to bail out my brother and my dad. I've just asked my brother to help us with our daughter because I'm currently stranded upstairs and Mr KC is ill. He said he can't (questionable). I'm supposed to be at a carers meeting at my Dad's tomorrow morning but I can't move. No-one else is able to go. Etc.

We are concerned for others but no-one seems concerned about us.

I don't belive money will bring happiness. I think you already know that. The feeling I get from your comment is one that you know your gonna be happy, having some type of financial security will make a big difference. Although I'm not nieve enough to think just money will make my world a better place, amd would never scarifce wealth for happiness. Not my business but for you..from a new relationship/job/windfall ect..it sounds like any new wealth ( I use the term loosely as can mean many different things to many people, most think i only own my house is someine esle paid for it or i met a rich bloke) but hell girl! Having money does not necessarily make anyone happy on its own and there are lots of tbings that it cant buy you. Not having enough on the other hand can be a big worry for people and the cause of a lot of stress and unhappiness.

We’ve never had any money problems really… we are quite well off and can afford luxuries no problem.

I do worry about my children as they become young adults though. I don’t know if they will be able to be as financially independent as their dad and I were in our 20s.

I was binge watching Below Deck the other week and thought about these people renting/owning yachts to just laze about for weeks and having their arse wiped and kissed by crew. Or private jets. I will never have enough money for that, neither do I want to. I just like having a comfortable life and getting the odd treat once in a while.

It doesn't make you happy but I think it can facilitate things. I definitely went through a time where I had very little and I did worry about things. But now, it's nice being comfortable. I can book nice hotels, go on adventures, buy what I want when I want without worrying. There's a sense of freedom in that regard. I still love a bargain though!
