Friends List seem pointless

Over the past 3 years I've managed to accumulate over 12 "Friends".
We've exchanged messages, pics and have had the best intentions to meet.
Sounds great but it's all rather pointless as none of them ever reply to any new messages lol.
Does anyone else find this? I'm merely curious

I don't particularly use it personally, the only function seems to be to view friends-only pics, or have them show in that part of your home feed (although you could just hotlist them for that). |

Definitely I've just deleted a few because of never answering or dodging it but I have one I met for a social and we just can't find time to meet but we chat regular it will happen so I don't mind. |

My list is v short ie 5 people and 1 is my other half.
I don't add people till we've meh or chatted at length ,as many just want access to private pics.
If I had anyone I didn't speak to regularly I'd delete them. |

that's partly why I don't accept friends requests,if I do and they haven't returned my messages then after a couple of weeks I delete them |

Strange to see this just pop up, I just did a bit of thinking regarding my small friends list. Most are people I have met socially or more physically, few are people I might never meet because of distance usually or one or two I can have proper adult mature chats with. Some I have had have been friends for a while to start with, starting off with all encouraging chats and intentions of meets but then after a while of unanswered messages or always having something else to do when you present an opportunity for a meet you have to ask yourself why they are on your friends list. Chats have to have two or more people involved not two word replies or being totally ignored. At least an occasional message once a week or so or what's the point. At least with people you have met even if you don't chat for a while you stay friends because it has been discussed you might just meet again. |

With two exceptions I've only added people to my friends list once we've met. My hotlist is for people I perv at, my friends list is for people I actually know.
We don't tend to chat in here as by the time we meet the chat has moved off-site, but I still like to see their updates and fab their photos. |

I agree op. Until fab create a friends only mail inbox or show use a different colour, all the effort of being accepted as a friend is, as you say pointless. If you try and follow up to stay in touch, you're back to square one because despite the friend status, any mail gets lost amongst the hundreds of others. |

My friends list used to be for those that I wanted to meet or had met.
It’s become a bit more of a blurred line recently, in that I have actual friends or those that I’ve just chatted to on there |

Every now and then you have to have a cull!
I'm only on for chat these days but some I don't hear from, so they'll be culled

I deleted about 30 friends today , as not spoken,responses etc in well who knows how long ..I may just delete the lot , as its just messages that matter , hot lists are adequate enough I find for keeping interesting people in |
