The Griffon is incredible but the supercharged Merlin does it for me. Ironically, heard from inside the cockpit in flight, it sounds like a bag of spanners..  |

A close second would be a BDA in the forest. "
it's weird how certain sounds invoke something. I like the lopy sound of a cammed out v8. It's a animalistic sound. |

One of my neighbours has and Aston Martin Vantage V8. Anytime I hear it burble up the lane, I have to run to the front gate like an excited school boy, as i know he's going to open it up as he pulls on to the main road  |

V8s are very special. It seems to resonate with humans.
Straight 6s can sound very nice to hear when on full song.
However if you want to hear a "scary" engine sound listen to the 1950s V16 BRM. 600bhp at 14,000 from a 1.5 litre - unique sound. |

I think it's just that. It's not sexual for me, but it is pleasure. It signifies the start of something you know is going to be fun, a mini adventure, maybe a bit dangerous so I get the parallels with the anticipation of sex. Just as well really, because if I got a raging horn every time I started an engine, my crew might worry!..  |
