1999, was 18. Blue H reg Astra cost me £500. Loved it. Timing belt turned itself inside out halfway up the M1. I knew absolutely nothing of maintenance back then, simply assumed it would run forever |

I shared "my" first car with my older sister - a bright yellow Renault 5, and we loved it. I was 18.
My very own first car was a white Renault Clio, which I got sometime while at uni, and had until I was 25. A little prang saw it written off because of its age. Sad day. |

I was just 16 when I got my first car , a red fiat 127.
Someone I knew was selling it and I thought it would be a great first car so I bought it off them before I could even drive it.
I had it stashed in the garage and spent hours on end polishing and t-cutting it , she was so pretty.
By the time I turned 17 though, my older brother was getting rid of his newer Uno and that’s the one I ended up learning in.
I never got to drive that 127 on the road but I still loved it and it was my first car regardless |

I don't drive Steve.
It's not that I don't have enough money... it's more so I love the ambience of the local bus and the stains on the train chairs always give me a good story to tell to my non existent friends.
And I am very passionate about my carbon footprint.
I am very rich just not interested in a lovely nice private car that can get me anywhere I need to be. |

19; a Green Morris Traveller (inherited). A great vehicle, I should have kept it much longer. It's only real problem was dry rot in the wooden struts (an old fashioned station wagon). |

Picked up a free (mates dad wanted rid as it was left in a lockup that was getting cleared) Morris marina coupe in a dark blue
I was 15 got it running perfectly and sold it to another mate who for some unknown reason painted it purple??? (moron) |

All the same reasons plus I grew up in London so had free travel until 18 then went to Loughborough where everything was walking distance and then didn’t care for paying for running a car compared to London transport or how bad it could be for the planet if there was another driver on the road. I was just curious  |

Cheeky fucker! I think I just count as a boomer.
It was the golden age of motoring. Cost me 30 guineas for all lessons and test. Passed first time in case you were wondering. My first car, a Mini, cost me less than what it costs to fill my current one. And in those days you could fool your girlfriend that your fan belt was dodgy so make sure you are wearing stockings ‘ just in case’ Happy days |

I had a lovely trap with a piebald pony at 17. He was called Henry and the stable boy who accompanied me into town was called Rufus. Mother always wondered why I returned with such messy hair and rumpled clothes.  |

I was 26. My first and only new years resolution was in 2000, to learn to drive. Passed test on December 20th, picked up my new car January 5th.
It was a blue Corsa, which I trashed because I didn't know you had to put oil in them and apparently the oil light didn't work to warn me. |
