NHS surgeons have reported a rise in trauma in women related to anal sex. Porn and TV have helped increased the popularity of the act among heterosexual couples and doctors have seen a rise in anal STIs, tears and faceal incontinence.
Women have less robust sphincters apparently and reduced canal pressure which can mean damage is more severe.

"For those that read tears ( water from the eyes ) instead of tears ( ripped interior of arsehole ) like I did, it's tears not tears." thanks for helping to clear that up |

"Well if it's in the Guardian it must be right eh?"
Is there a simple right ?
The Guardian is more trustworthy than other papers...
I often see men saying how easy it is and giving advice on how to lube up and I think ..... mate you are over 6ft tall. You have hands like shovels and feet like flippers.....
I do NOT have a robust anal passage. Or a massive stretchy starfish. |

The Guardian is as bad as The Daily Mail, equally pompous and self righteous, but from opposite perspectives. |

What's pompous about raising awareness of potential damage? |

If anyone bothers to read the article, you'll find it's well considered and cites factual information from colorectal surgeons and sexual health professionals.
Or are we in the "don't trust people who are qualified in this field" situation? |

Nothing. But you could say the same about many of The Mail's stories. It's the spin they both use I dislike. |

Less Robust Sphincters was the name of my punk band in the late 90's, we did a small seaside tour with Stiff Little Fingers.
It was fun initially but then it just became a pain in the arse, so I stopped doing it.
What's anal?

Read the articles and believe it.
Some arseholes are obviously more robust than others. But the anatomical differences and possible issues for women are undeniable. I stopped enjoying it some ago.

Have to agree.
It's being promoted as a completely normal activity with no more risk than normal sexual intercourse. These articles explain why that is simply not the case.
If you still choose to engage and enjoy in anal sex after reading it the crack on |

I can believe this
I'm always very uncomfortable after anal and sometimes (I don't know if theres a nerve there) I get the shakes all down my right side for a few hours afterwards
Once in a while is OK but not something I could do regularly |

"I actually know a gay guy who's had to have his anus repaired twice from receiving anal "
You make it sound like a car repair appointment where you just replace a few parts and quickly get back on the road |

There was a writing on that other website about this, saying the same thing.
The conclusion was that gentle anal ‘should’ be ok, it’s the rough stuff that causes damage, and can be a long term issue, rather than immediate.
Women have a different anatomy which can make it worse. |

"Porn has a lot to answer for "
See, I don’t buy the whole ‘only done because hubby saw it on porn hub and pursued the mrs to partake’ …lots of women instigate it in my experience - one I know prefers anal to PIV. Personally I’m not a fan because of the shit on a stick effect (you’re welcome) but I will oblige if she’s persuasive! |

That's just silly, regardless of one's political persuasion. "
As it happens, I don't have a strong 'political persuasion', which is why I can see both these rags are shamelessly biased and untruthful. |

Women are thrown into doubt by porn just as much as men.
Not all women are married.
Some women offer it in order to seem exciting, different , excite the male, get a response, out of curiosity.
Some women really enjoy it.
Nothing we say, nothing we think matters. It doesn't alter scientific/medical/biological fact. |

I think people are anatomically different. I have been into hard anal sex for 30 years and have had no issues. But then I don't fuck people who don't know what they are doing! Always listen to your body is the key I guess and stop if you feel you need to ( never happened to me but sounds like a good idea if you not analy gifted) x |

At least with scientific research papers, when referencing them, users can go straight to the source and learn from it. |
