Sorry to hear that OP, toothache is the absolute worst. Maybe try biting on cotton wool with brandy?

Given the state of the dentistry profession, you’d probably be better off getting pliers and a bottle of vodka.

I put a finger of whiskey on when I had one. Worked surprisingly well.

Get anaesthetic throat spray and spray on the gum under the tooth affected just until you can get it treated

Friers Balsom, drip it on the offending tooth, failing that, a bit of lignocaine injected into the gum.

I had an Irish friend who found that it was quicker and cheaper to get on a flight to New York and get his teeth done by students at the New York Dentistry school (who were always looking for people to “learn” on) than it was to get his teeth seen to in Dublin. If you are struggling to get an appointment then I would not rule out a dentistry school….

My sympathies are with you,I have suffered severe tooth ache most of my life, nothing worse, had it so bad I never slept for days, goes from one tooth to pain all over your face,to your head, constant thumping, even bottle of scotch and painkillers did nothing, sadly only way for me was to have it out, made me think how animals coped with toothache,

Oh and apparently the red plastic on a babybel is meant to be great protection for a broken tooth until you can get to a dentist- I haven’t tried that myself

Agreed, Orajel relieves the pain temporarily. You can also buy Toothfil from supermarkets/chemist/Amazon if you have a hole which needs a temporary filling.

Do you not have an emergency out of hours dental service in your area? Our one will only give you a temporary fix but it’s enough until you can get a proper appt.

If you have an infection/abscess you may antibiotics, it might be easier to get a prescription than a quick dental appt.

Good luck OP.

This is not recommended because it will damage your gum, but if all else fails and you find yourself banging your head on the wall, place a paracetamol tablet on the affected tooth. It will work for a while, but again it is not recommended.

My dentist is in Zagreb and it works out far cheaper for me to hop on a plane, spend 2 or 3 nights at their on site apartments, bit of work done if it’s needed (perhaps just a simple check up) then fly back.

All first class facilities and it’s so much pain free that I fell asleep in the chair while I was having a couple of fillings back in June..lol

All dentists are failed doctors. No one ever started out to be a dentist and the IQ of an average GP in the UK is sketchy. So a dentist in the UK is only looking for the money a doctor would earn.

Plus ibuprofen and paracetamol staggered timing

Where did you get that info? Lol

A Maxillofacial consultant has to do a dental course and pass exams that a normal dental surgeon has to pass, then they have to study medicine for a further four years, while practising as a dentist too (experience). The surgeon I saw in the MaxFax dept had studied for 9 years to become a MaxFax surgeon.

So you’re statement that all dentists are failed doctors is untrue and quite damaging
