As a rule i dont swear at home. I dont like it when someone comes to my house and uses words that i find inappropriate. I hate people swearing in front of kids and hate kids swearing.
I do swear in work though, so i've got double standards i suppose. but to me my home is a swear free zone.
Am i being old fashioned? Do i need to get with the times? is it accepted as a norm these days? or am i being grumpy?

I despise people swearing in front of children, especially considering it's the child that gets told off when innocently repeating something.
Even worse is what I witnessed one day, 2 chav males with a young girl and young boy. The little girl swore at her brother, I mild swear word from what I remember, and her dad replied with "Oi! Don't fucking swear at your brother!"
I swear in front of my mum, although not excessively, but not in front of my dad which is odd as he's the only one I remember swearing when I was a kid! |

I don't like swearing at home I dont like swearing in anyones home, as for swearing at work I suppose it depends on where you work. Amongst the lads its industrial language but I wouldnt have lasted as long as I have in my job if i Knocked on a front door and said "Alright girl nice tits Ive come to fit your fucking gas fire". Customer service has gone out the window |

i only swear when i have to.
if you limit the amount you use swear words people will take more notice when your pissed off or angry.
if they hear it all the time your 'just going off on one again' so use them wisely |

I have told people on many occasions to stop swearing when my daughters been about, like on buses, shops etc, i feel that in public places people should be more respectful of others around them and act accordingly and not walk round swearing, to me its anti social behaviour |

I wouldn't say you were being old fashioned at all just doing what you feel comfortable with as long as nobody objects at work. |

My parents never swore, and even a minor word e.g. damn, I was punished.
So I didn't swear...up until I met my boss at the time, when I was 22 who swore like a trooper.
We had a swear box for her.
Working with her for a number of years I found that I had picked up her swearing habit!
I then stopped saying "fucking hell" and replaced it with "flying pigs" after I was putting in as much money at work as she was.
I do swear quite a lot still now...but don't give a monkey's uncle
