Lots of cake, and free Strawberry milkshakes and sticky buns in Uncle Petes cafe (not actually my Uncle, but Dad's best friend.

My mum worked as the dinner lady at my primary school for the first couple of years. I always got a kiss and a hug from my mum after dinner. Wish I could go back for one day just to appreciate that fully and tell her how much I miss and love her |

"Happy sunny Wednesday morning everyone "
Not me but my son gets sponsorship for his chosen sport and entry into some facilities too. He is good at what he does but my past and work opens the doors. |

My mum was a cook in my primary school, got to pick the dessert I wanted
And sometimes take some home. Used to love the pink cake and custard, school dinners aren't what they used to be now |

My dad was in the army n around 1970 we were living in Hong Kong n I do remember a few times he would call home during his working day n he would let me n my brother play with his guns.
But to be fair he did take the bullet our (when he remembered to)
Bet the army kids can't do that these days.

My dad drove a Sierra Cosworth as company car.
Hot shit back in the late 80s when you where a clueless kid.
These days it's my Dad was loaded back then and had a better income than these days but I digress.
Now I'm older the real perks where..family not anything else.

Booze and porn videos - they ran an off-licence and video rental shop back in the day so I’d run the shop in the evening, then sneak a couple of bottles and the latest porn film home while they were down the pub..... |

Dad was military so travel, getting to live in and visit many places we wouldn’t have otherwise and meeting lovely people along the way. Free access to sports and leisure facilities, at one place this included a pool a 5 min walk from our house so we were in there most days in the summer. Also lots of parties/discos any excuse for a knees up really. Always plenty paper and pens for drawing and colouring. |

My dad delivered stationery to various businesses around Sussex.
He could bring home anything from cakes/biscuits to turkey eggs.
Of course we were never out of pens, diaries and paper either |

"My grandad was a bin man and he did our street. He used to put 10p each through the letter box for me and my brother.
In those days, bin men carried bins and 10p bought 10 sweets. "
My nan used to write to us every week, and it always arrived on a Saturday morning with 10p each for sweets taped to the letter. We’d sit after dinner on a Sunday and write letters back. Very happy memories indeed |

Grandma's job got us occasional nice desserts and treats off the "selling off trolley", she worked at M&S and out of date things were sold in the staff room for 5p, 10p etc. Probably not allowed nowadays! |

Free internet and phone calls.
My dad was the IT manager for a local factory and set it up so he could access the internet from home. Coincidentally we were the first in the local community to get internet |

I got to earn extra spending money from washing loads of cars in the school holidays at my families garage. Usually stood on old milk crates as I couldn’t reach the roof.
Also got to ride horses which I always thought was a perk. But looking back it was probably 90% mucking them out and 10% riding. I was happy though..

"I got to race the school kids in a spare wheelchair after school. They always beat me, especially Robbie on his 3 wheel trike. Wheelchair wheelies are fun. "
Wheelchair wheelies ARE fun, as is whizzing downhill |

I got to run round a huge nightclub during the day, play snooker on decent tables, pour myself endless fizzy drinks (maybe not so good), loads of food, cakes and ice cream available and often got to go for a ride in a lorry too- so I had experience of both live music venues and good transportation by the time I was ten…which was actually really bloody useful when I grew up |
