New to my idiom: Land Sickness. I had never heard of this before until recently when a fabette told me she was suffering violently from this unpleasant ailment, having returned from a Nordic sea voyage.
People experience sea-sickness but 'land sickness' is rarely discussed.
It's the body's slow or delayed adjustment from the sensations of motion and undulation when being 'at sea'.
So I learnt/learned something new today. |

Many years ago. Used to go out in relations charter boat to help out. I was never sea sick. But if weather a bit ‘choppy’. Once back on land had to rest for about an hour to stop being land sick. |

Yes after being at sea for any duration it takes the senses a few days to adjust to being back on dry land. The feeling of movement when sitting or lying down is the main symptom. |

"I get travel sickness (nausea) on trains and buses.
I'm ok on trains, but can suffer from it in cars and buses (and on boats)."
Yep passenger seat in a car and a winding road are a combination my stomach still can’t handle |

Same, I don't like being a car passenger. Fine as the driver anywhere. |

Exactly! If I'm driving I'm fine. But I'm a passenger in my own car my stomach begins to churn.
KC² - is there a wheelchair travelling phenomenon? |

I've not felt sick whilst whizzing along in my chair, but being a passenger in the chair in the back of adapted taxis is horrible |

I had this a few years ago when work sent us on a team building jolly sailing yachts...we were out all day in quite a choppy sea, and when we went out for a meal in the evening the vast majority of us were sat at the table swaying as if we were still on the boat |
