So today I was told a post of mine was such a Meli reply. Jury is still out as to whether or not that's a good thing... but, anyway.
Do you find certain posters have a particular voice? Would you be able to tell who wrote something without any names/photos? Do you have a certain style of writing? |

Some do, yes.
Certain people construct sentences and their thoughts in particular ways, use certain words.
Over time, they become familiar and it’s possible to spot them if you spend enough time reading them.
I know that you pick up on it acutely, OP.

Can I spot some? Yep. Some with my eyes closed, wearing a blindfold, on a dark room, in the middle of a powercut with no internet......
As for me? Couldn't possibly comment.

I don't have a noticeable posting style, and I think that's true for most people on here.
There are only half a dozen or so where I know who has posted just from the style of it. Granny and Princess Peach have already been mentioned, and there are a couple of others. |

There are a fair number who I could recognise. And more where I'd take an educated guess between two or three posters.
There are some posters whose style is extremely similar. |

Yes, I do. I'm quite good at recognising returning posters. It's not even that I spend lots of time on here, more a voice. Some posters do have a particular way with words, a predilection for some. It's like a play with many characters. |

You do Obi! Definitely. It helps that you sign off but that aside you have a certain voice. Although...you and Mr NBVN post in a similar way. Esp if more of a debate-y post. |

I am VERY good at returning posters. BUT ..... there is one that always says hi to me in a winky Granny should know sort of way and well ....... Granny doesn't. |

I mean you get used to certain people's acerbic nature, insight, overt or subtle wits, and then those with a malnourished one.
The saccharine and sycophantic all blend into one amorphous mess, but hey, 60% of the time it works every time, right?
Could I pick them out, eh, maybe, only the ones that make regular sense or raise a chuckle.
Any mention of scabs and it's obvious though. |

Some people on here have a very distinct style. You are definitely one of them, Meli! It's absolutely not a bad thing.
I can recognise a fair few from their turn of phrase alone. |

Not as many these days as in the days of old *gets all misty eyed thinking about it all*, but there are a few for sure.
It’s true everywhere though, on my football Twitter you can literally predict how everyone will react to any news / results in advance |

Eurgh those people. Come out and say who you are, I hate having to wrack the brain library to work out who you are. I'll get there but it's irksome. Slightly. |

Scabs. Frickin' scabs. Oh I need to send you a photo!
I'd like to think I'd recognise you if you ever abandoned me and returned. You definitely do get a feeling for people even if you've only been on for a short time or they have. Like this -
"Malnourished wit"
Only you. |

Definitely a few of them. Some by their sentence structure or words they use and some by the contents and type of humour. It's cool when I read the end of a thread and someone has been quoted and I can guess who wrote the original reply |

"I can tell a hot wife seductions reply without seeing the name "
Finding yourself trying to clear coffee out of your nose is pretty good sign it's one of hers.
Lots of cunts and a fun self deprecating humour is usually PP.
If it contains the word bugger it's probably Tom.
There's more that stand out by their responses. Nora is one is I'd often guess.

But... what if they're only recognisable because they are bots churning out posts according to a preset algorithm? And what if you're the only account with an actual real-life person behind the phone?
What if, ultimately, Fab is like the Matrix but without plug-in martial arts skills and stylish trenchcoats? |

I'm not around as much but those I recognise are generally from the old days. It doesn't matter if they change their name and pictures, they have a distinctive voice.
I think my writing style is recognisable. |
