Weekly Mental Health Check-in 08.09

Morning all, just tweaked the title slightly this week to encourage anybody who needs to to post on here at any point during the week.
It was so sad to hear the news about BikerDrew last week and a reminder of how important mental health issues are x
My anxiety has been pretty high. I saw my parents last week and my dad has deteriorated a bit, which was upsetting. My son is also heading back to hospital this Friday for the 4th of 5 lengthy surgeries. The first was where my trauma started and my anxiety got really bad so it’s always difficult. The hospital is also an hour from home so I can’t keep popping home to see my other kids (all are teenagers now so not as bad as if they were little). This week will be spent getting everything sorted so everyone has everything they need while I’m gone. At this stage my anxiety is more around worrying how bad my anxiety is going to get rather than the surgery itself, which is a strange place to be.
I’ve started reading Jon Kabat-Zinn’s ‘Full Catastrophe Living’ which is the book of his Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programme which has been scientifically proven to have amazing results - fingers crossed!
So it’s your turn - how are you feeling today? x |

Good luck with your week OP
Mixed here, last week started well with couple of nice catch ups, then agreed a longer gap between therapy sessions. Till I can change the narrative in my head there is little point to them
Now waiting to see if have a new medical condition and if so how serious or not. My head partly sees it as my way out but mainly just want the info so can make informed decisions |

Glad you’ve had some positive moments x
It can be frustrating when you get to a stuck point in therapy, hope you can get past it at some point. Fingers crossed you’re not waiting to long for the information you need about your health, thinking of you x |

Morning lou
Keep your grounding techniques honed and fresh, don't let it get too bad before you reach to use one and good for small persons procedure xxx
I am using August to smash through my list of a million home errands whilst entertaining small people on fun family days out. Its very busy but achievable, balanced out with sundays set aside for only my time
So in all. I'm in a really good place x |

Thank you! Good tips there - small person is 18 now so need to make sure he’s not feeling he needs to look out for me as well as himself!
Your plan for yourself sounds great, glad you’re in a good place x |

Morning OP, morning all.
I’m feeling pretty good, which is unexpected as this weekend has been a strain.
I find grounding works well for me, where possible I walk barefoot on the lawn, this helps, I’m not always able to meditate, but getting just 10 minutes natural daylight around midday helps a lot too.
I know it can be hard to open up about the struggles, especially publicly, so if you need someone to talk to, even just general chit chat to keep your mind from focusing on your triggers, reach out. My DM’s are always open and while I’m not online all the time, I will reply when I can. |

Sorry to hear about your difficult weekend, but I’m glad today is a better day for you. I like your recommendations for things that help x |

"I'm alive. That has to count for something, right?
That was my benchmark everyday fir a good few months earlier this year
Yup, I can empathise with you buddy"
Straight back at you, I developed a very self deprecating sense of humour about it that wasn't universally appreciated! |

I've had another good week, I managed parkrun on Saturday without my partner coming with me which is the first time I've managed that since I got ill in March and had to massive cut back on running and racing. What to do when the things that give you resilience are too much for you, that was fun...
I think this week might be difficult my partner is away and I need to ficus on self care! |

I was doing ok, then my youngest son has decided to have a full on autistic meltdown. So we’re all licking our wounds this week. Plus I’ve got my last CBT appointment this afternoon, it’s made me realise I need therapy to address the trauma I endured. X |

Hi all
I’m still getting obsessive unwanted thoughts about my ex, my mind playing tricks on me about us getting back together!
This morning as I was half asleep I dreamt about cleaning her windows and seeing her smiling at me. A friend went searched the Internet about its meaning etc, but I had to point out it might have been triggered by the window cleaner visiting next door!
I know they will lessen in time, but the sooner the better xx |

"Hi.
I eventually got to see a CPN 3 weeks ago for an assessment.
Got a message last week saying that the waiting list is now expected to be 2 years...but Iam on the list haha."
Ohhh, the state of our mental health services makes me so sad . Sending love x |

That sounds like a tough time, hugs. I hope your last session went ok, it’s positive that you’ve recognised you need more help, I hope you’re not waiting too long for it x |

Thanks, yes it did. I don’t know what the waiting time is yet. But don’t expect to get it soon x |

I'm doing okay at the moment, going along as normal, taking what time I can back from a busy work, busy hobby job scenario.
Since I've looked over what I'm doing and made a couple of decisions I am far happier. Wishing everyone out there well that needs it and offering support from afar. |

"I'm so completely overwrought that I bawled for hours after knocking over a glass of water a few days ago. So I'm doing just peachy. "
When we’re absolutely full to the brim, just the slightest extra tiny pebble dropping in will make us spill over (excuse the pun). Sending love x |

Sending hugs all round. I need them too please. Struggling at the moment and it’s affecting my sleep which I am sure we all understand. Ugh. Also new friend from here has gone unlos which saddens me.
Working hard to stay positive but also reflect on what needs attention to improve the future. |

Sorry to hear you’re struggling. It can be so tough on here when people vanish and you’ve no idea what’s going on with them.
Sending love and hugs back to you xx |
