Independent coffee shops are usually way better.

Costa and Cafe Nero. I have also had some lovely coffees in small independent cafe's too.

At the risk of catching all the ire, McDonald's. Cheap, consistent, acceptable.

I loathe paying over the odds elsewhere, I'd rather drink a bottle of water than prop up those awful wank stains of the high street. Yes I know, cognitive dissonance, the big M being the largest stain of all lol.

Independent ones can be good, the pencil moustaches, circular glasses, French stripey tee's and neckerchiefs though are becoming fairly ubiquitous though.

I have noticed they all the ships use 100% Arabica, even most of the importers from Rwanda & South America do, unlike Italians that add about 10-20% robusta. I buy beans from Italian supermarkets or TX MAX and burr grind them , any old Italian beans as long as they have some robusta , £10 per kilo , it’s as good as being in Italy

Out of the options I’d pick Nero; hands down the best coffee.

Of the listed options Costa for me.

Otherwise an independent as the coffee is usually better. At the big places they tend to over roast deliberately for consistency, and I just think you get more interesting beans at independents as they don’t need to be able to buy tonnes and tonnes, so they can go with smaller suppliers that you otherwise might not get to try.

But mostly as long as it’s coffee it’s all good.

Not all that North of North London

Never Starbucks unless absolutely no other choice. Costa or Neros. Hertfordshire specific, definitely Simmons. Also I'll support an independent where possible. Cake choice I'd definitely a significant factor!

Simmons! Gosh. Someone else knows of Simmons.

I'd probably go for Costa out of the main ones. Starbucks for PSL season but I'm not sure I can drink one this year sadly.

I'm sad for you! Whenever I go back to my mum's I always pop in. Those scones definitely helped my boobs grow.

Agree with McDonalds comment, it’s cheap and tastes fine. Out of the chains I prefer Costa but as I drink only black coffee it really is down to taste and I prefer theirs over other chains.

Like an independent coffee shop though and we have plenty in my town.

I begrudge the price of coffee in those places. Give me an independent coffee shop or cafe or a McD's any time. Or I'll make one at home with my flavoured coffees.

I buy mine from an independent roaster and grind them myself. They stay fresher for longer. Stuff that's been sitting on the shelves for god knows how long won't taste as originally intended. I've recently come across a new roaster and the taste the beans produce is exactly to my liking. Happy days.

C.
