"Ooh not seen.. didn’t even know about it!
Scores out of ten OP? Usual fare or something a little different?"
I'd say was a 6.5
I wouldn't want to give any spoilers away but was a slow start that's all I'm saying |

"So who has watched the new Movie on Disney today? Thoughts...
Iv watched earlier and I'd say was a decent movie, continuation of the Predator franchise "
Continuation? I thought it was a prequel? Surely none of them will ever be a patch on the original?! |

Oh on Disney already, might have to change up the Alien session and drop in.
I mean, I'm a savage critic, I'm not exactly, optimistic. Is it really up to the standard or just, meh, ok'ish? |

Yeah the pistol was the one the elder predator tosses to Harrigan in the ship at the end of 2. Maybe room for a sequel here to explain that?
Obviously, the if it bleeds line, as well as screaming do it do it mimicking Dutch.
Have to say, really impressed. Shot wonderfully, true to the lore and feel of the original. The score was on point, and it felt very right in terms of reaching it's conclusion. Everything had a natural development, set up and pay off.
My only gripe, the CGI of the snake, small rodent, rabbit and bear felt a bit, off. It's nit picky, but against the amazing natural landscapes it stood out like a sore thumb.
Easily slots in second, maybe third behind 2, as I do love it despite the criticism. Way way above the other trash in recent years, Jesus wept. |

I really enjoyed it,I'm glad they didn't make it family friendly.
I thought the whole premise of the heroine and how it panned out was very good.
About a million times better than
The Predator the last one released.
My only criticisms.
Yeah once again CGI crap.
And why couldn't they have done the whole dialogue in the native language with subtitles much like apocalypto done in the Mayan language.
The young lady in the lead roll for Prey was Excellent. |

Hate it when they do that. Have to put my bloody glasses on.
Really annoying when the trailer's in English and there's no indication the film isn't. Then you wait 5 minutes into the film before anybody speaks and it's not in English! |

There is a version in the extra section allowing you to watch the film dubbed in Comanche. |

20 minutes into it when I saw this thread. Sort of says everything if I'm on the phone rather than gripped. Very slow start and it's meant to be a Predator film.
May pick up (please) as I love this franchise |

Give it time, it's worth it.

I have it as equal to, if not better than, the original.
There are two versions of it as well.

Given the bear scene I'm not hopeful. But we'll power through |

"Good but didn't like the...im a woman and it doesn't see me as a threat..."
Have you seen predator before?
Nothing to do with gender, it's the predators code... she wasn't armed comparatively, she was being attacked by others, not sport...
That was literally, the plot point and device. Nothing to do with her gender. She had noticed this, learnt advantage, adapted and became the threat.
That was her talent, observation. |

"Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t understand the ending?
How did the arrow/helmet thing work? X "
Earlier in the film, she learns that the red dots on the predators helmet are linked to the arrow projectiles he shoots, they are guided and don't follow traditional kinetic pathways.
She sees this, learns this, takes the helmet and lays her trap. Using the advantages of the landscape, bog, heat suppressing meds, she basically invites the predator to try and use that weapon against her, thus, against himself.
Previously the 3 dots were a targeting system linked to an energy based shoulder cannon, for this film, it was linked to a wrist based guided projectile. |

"Good but didn't like the...im a woman and it doesn't see me as a threat..."
I think that was a reference more to her culture than the Predator. Most of the dialogue with her and the other tribe members (her mother included) was that as a woman she'd never be good enough to be a hunter. Only her brother gave her some respect but even he thought the same.
The unarmed = Not being a threat ties back to Anna in the first Predator film. Arnie kicked a gun away from her in one scene not wanting her to be armed and so end up being targeted.
As for Prey, I thought it was outstanding. Beautifully shot, action scenes well choreographed (Native American martial arts is a thing) and casting perfect. Yes the CGI was ropey but overlook that for everything else that is right.
Hint that there is a possible sequel too, Dan Trachtenberg has had discussions and if you watch the animated titles at the end of the film all the way through, the last frame hints at a sequel as well. |

Of course not, Predator is a perfect film of the genre, encapsulating many themes and a nugget of the 80's style.
Plenty of video essays on YouTube discussing it at length, lovely stuff. |

Pedantry of this nature is well deserved and welcomed.
Top tier stuff.
Are bricks in the bag still legal though?
