The renowned French scientist Etienne Klein recently posted a picture which he said was from the Webb Space telescope purporting to be an amazing closup of the star closest to the sun. Other scientists marvelled and gushed at the image. The Frenchman had the last laugh. It was a picture of a piece of sliced Spanish sausage and these science types that had been taken in were furious. The lesson said Klein is that science types should not believe all they see and read. Fools the lot of them fooling for one of the oldest tricks in the book. Tom calls it the french chorizo trick . |

The point about science is that some people are taken in by hoaxes but others in science eventually prove the hoax wrong, just as when the Piltdown hoax initially caught out some in science.
Had anybody thought that this was real, science would have quickly debunked it.
So it's not really a criticism of science at all. |
