What’s that sound? Oh it’s Patrick Swayze turning in his grave
Why the fuck can’t they just leave great movies alone? I bet they make a mess of it |

It’s not actually a great movie, Swayze is the reason it’s worth watching and to a certain extent Sam Elliott as well. It’s a dumb action movie from the 80’s that has a bit of a cult following.
I’m a big Jake Gyllenhaal fan (even more for his sister, absolutely beautiful  )and if anyone can make a remake watchable then it’s good casting.
We’ll see very few remakes are any good for every ‘Heat’ they’ll be an ‘Italian Job’.  |

McGregor will likely play the baddies henchman. Wonder if McGregor will pull Gylennhalls head back and say that immortal line “Oi used to fook goys loike you in prison” |

Because money, its cheaper to remake an IP/movie you own than it is to do something new (or so I have read) and they're trying to appeal to a new generation who probably have never seen the original.
That all said, re-makes are not all inherently bad. Some are as good and some are even better than the original.
I.e "The Thing" and "The Fly" where superior in everyway to the original. I mention those two because the time frames are similar for what it would be between the original Roadhouse and it's subsequent remake.
I'm more wait and see but the recent string of remakes have indeed been shite comapred to the originals.
