Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shootin' stars
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now

When I have been camping before I've always loved looking up at the stars. I don't get to see them often as I've always lived in big cities with too much light pollution. |

"Too much light pollution where I am. I've only ever seen the stars properly once or twice. Pity."
That’s sad to hear. I always notice how few stars I can see when in an urban area. When I stay at my folks there’s so much light pollution I can only see a handle. If ever you’re in Somerset pop over, we’ll light the chiminea, open a bottle of red and watch the stars come out to play. I still get a childlike excitement when I see the International Space station go over. |

"Honestly tonight is very lovely conditions for star gazing guys, dont miss out on seeing a few shooting stars and seeing a few satellites lol"
No street lighting near me, so get fabulous views when the skies are clear, and often sit out in the garden to gaze up at the night skies ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Thanks, that's such a kind offer and, should I be in the area, I'll take you up on that. |

Few things to look out for
12 August- Supermoon (last one for 2022)
13 August- Perseid meteor shower (60+ meteors per hour apparently)
14 August- Saturn closest to earth for the year
19 August - The moon and Mars will appear close together ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

Maybe someone can explain something to me...
Last year I was looking up (as I do alot) noticed a (what I thought was a shooting star out the corner of my eye) my eye followed it for a second or 2 and then it suddenly did a right angle turn, now I know a bit about physics, if something is burning up in the atmosphere its going to change shape and have an effect on its wind resistance thus altering its direction, but if you think that 99% of the shooting stars we see are the size of a grain of sand how would this be possible? Any thoughts? |

"It makes you realise how small we really are, in comparison to the vastness of the universe x"
Yes it does, but if you take a photo of your ass in the air against the starry night things look a little different. |

We recently took our jeep to cherry springs . It's a place we're you can see the whole entity milky way. It was a amazing experience. Top off just sitting there pondering your existence. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I’ve seen exactly the same happen when looking out at the stars, more than once. People just tell me I must have imagined it when I tell them. |

I always look for the most logical explanation but that baffled me, I forgot to say that another one followed it a split second after in the same direction it went in.
I've seen a ghost too, maybe some people's minds are more open to this sort of thing. |

I think if truth be known many people see things they can’t explain. But we brush it off and move on never giving it another thought. |
