WHy is everything about women's football used as a stick against the men's game?
"you don't see them diving"
"they respect the refs"
"biggest attendances ever"
"no hooligans"
Can't everybody just enjoy it for what it is, instead of using it to snark?
It's the same when Rugby afficionados get superior about facets of that sport.
Enjoy your thing, it doesn't have to be at someone else's expense. |

Sadly they don’t care about that! I was recently at Wembley for a different sporting event with my family and young child, we lost and well the other supporters around my family and child were something else! We couldn’t even avoid them sadly. Not all we’re idiots of course just the odd few |

Nothing is being used as a stick but if there are issues, then comparisons are going to happen.
The men’s game needs to clean up a lot of racism, violence, homophobia and ignorance both on and off the pitch.
Surely having it pointed out is a positive?
Unless you think it’s good and part of the charm of the game? |

I called someone out who got in my face and in front of my young child called me a bad mother for bringing a child to football and that I didn’t know anything and should be in the kitchen where I belong!  |

Noone likes hooliganism
But male football fans are unlikely to become fans of the womens game and care passionately about it either. Yesterday was a family event. Young kids and families were the supporters in the stadium. You could here the innocence and joy in the crowd. It was magical and inspiring- esp for girls...
The poor refereeing went unchallenged. The diving and time wasting we saw was ignored entirely. The terrible goal keeping wasnt analysed and the weak defending for the equaliser wasnt mentioned. During the game everything was entirely happy and positive. It was lovely but annadine to me. I appreciated it as a spectacle and what it will do for young girls but as a football fan it wont get me excited week in week out.
Perhaps the womens game needs a setup like the cricket or rugby where the domestic system feeds a much bigger and more watched international system.

Actually there was a hell of a lot of diving in the game yesterday, several the replay showed that they were not even touched.
It's actually nice to see female sport get the attention, the women's Tour de France got locked behind a paywall with garbage commentary.
Oh, and Rugby is just a superior sport, so no need to get all high and mighty as it speaks for itself  |
