Do you let people pass at the checkout?
Jump to: Newest in thread
"Yep. Why not?
No self serve tills at our Adli so why make them queue behind a trolley full when they can be gone in a heartbeat.
A"
I've had the checkout person call me to the front before as I had only one item, the person in front with their massive shop wasn't happy about it that for sure. |

Of course standard procedure, the other day in Aldi even though I only had nappies and wipes I let the bloke with what was obviously his lunch go infront of me, as the old bint with a trolley full on the till he was waiting at wasn’t polite enough to let him go first.
This is one thing about people that boils my piss, it’s just rude and there’s no need

I do this automatically, always have. Only time it's ever backfired was one day when I let a lady with one item in front of me then her hubby tried to join her with a fully loaded trolley a few moments later
Fortunately I'm not British by birth, so I didn't politely accept this |

Usually yes. Had 1 guy ask me a few weeks back if he could go in front of me. He probably had 6 or 7 items, so wouldn't have been long. However, he had gone past the person who was queuing behind me. I've no idea if they were okay with this. Also his manner in the way he asked me got my back up. No attempt of a 'please' and an automatic entitlement demeanour like I'd already said yes. I was like 'nah mate, I'm in a rush, you'll have to wait.' I had a full shop, I then proceeded to take my time His attitude rubbed me up the wrong way. |

Of course and usually other people fo the same for me, though not all. It's usually the older ones who perhaps are nit in such a hurry. The young ones don't usually bother in my experience, perhaps they are in a hurry themselves as would hate to think it has anything to do with manners. |

I occasionally get it when I'm in uniform grabbing bits for lunch. I usually get a 'Well you've probably got places to be?'
'Probably' I usually reply
Once I've had someone pay for my shop (a meal deal), it's the thought that counts at least... |

Not really as I usually get in the queue where there’s an issue
“Dave, how much is this plastic pineapple? Price check it, it’s on the aisle furthest from the till in a really obscure position”
And Dave has usually forgotten his roller skates.
Damn you Dave! Damn you! |

Yes I do, always. Trouble is when you get a few people behind you with one or two items, I do let them all through
Same if you can see someone on a lunch break, carers, emergency services |

I very rarely get the chance as I always shop early Saturday mornings. Hardly anyone in and the shelves are being stocked for the weekend so best time. If chance does arise, no problem letting someone before me. |

Yes I do but I don’t expect anyone to do it for me. It’s only Aldi near me that doesn’t have self checkouts so I choose not to go in if I only want 1 or 2 things because the queuing system in there is ridiculous. |

I'm always the one being asked if I want to go through first and I'm always very grateful.
Happened to me this morning in Lidl, a young mother with two kids and a trolley full of shopping asked if I'd like to go ahead, I had six items in my hand.
I live on my own, drive past Lidl's on the way home from work and probably stop in there three times a week. So I never really have a big shop. |

If Tom has a trolley of shopping and the person behind in the queue only has a loaf it bread then Tom says, please go in front of me, you only have a loaf of bread..
The lady said thank you.
A day later something similar happened.. Tom said, please go in front of me, you only have a packet of comdoms and some KY jelly and this crazy women went nuts... |

"At the quesupermarket? I do that especially if they just have 2 or 3 things and I say, do you want to pass? You also get a nice thanks from them as well "
Yes I let people pass. I’ve usually enough shopping to fill the conveyor belt and am never in a hurry

Our local Lidl is the place to see ignorant individuals who don't let people through because, our local Lidl doesn't have express check outs. However, most of the staff at our Lidl know me now, and how I subtly bring those people down who don't let me through, and how I've been known to thank one or two for letting me go in front. I don't really want to say publicly how I deal with them, but message me privately if you want to know how I bring them down a peg or two. |

Rare needed here as mostly self serve and even those queues are split anyway between trolley / basket loads. In addition in the big shop, a different section for just a few items. |
