Thank you!! This was me!! My mum was picked to play for England at the 1971 World Cup (she was born in a Scotland but her Grandmother was born in England like me) Sadly she didn’t get to play but I’ll always be proud!! She went on to become a referee in the 80’s

I didn't see the second half (damn you, Dad!) but will try to catch up. Saw the last bit of the extra time and the celebrations at the end. As a girl who had to stop playing at 11, due to lack of opportunities and a total ban at school, it's amazing to see England ladies winning today |

These ladies were incredible and I hope things change in relation to girls and women's football. In the school I worked in up until 2020 girls were not allowed to play football at lunch time like the boys where. There was a girl's football team But they didn't have their own kit and had to borrow the boy's kit. |

Anyone trying to tell my daughter she couldn't play footy in the playground, but boys can, would be getting the short end of my temper!! Our primary school has a girls team for the older age groups but nothing for below year 4/5. All the children play various sports in PE though, including football. |

The school would not budget on this. I can't tell you the amount of arguments there were between parents and senior management and staff and management for that matter on this very subject. |

Brilliant win from the Lionesses, I really hope this springboards a better effort at grassroots level to promote the women's game. Unfortunately, the mentality that girls don't play football will exist in large parts, but wins like this when the men come up short will help reduce that thinking.
Really hope to see women coaches get a shot at men's level or even a top level men's coach at a women's football club |

What was their rationale? Were boys banned from any traditionally "female" sports? |

Because the playground was quite small there was only room for one game at a time and they decided it was best if only the boys played. It was absolutely ridiculous and caused a lot of issues and I don't know if that has now changed but it has been their policy for years. |

Won't be as tense as the semi final against Spain but will be totally entertaining. Can't wait |
