I know it sounds daft but after a considerable time now using the forums, I have decided I won't even read, never mind contribute, to posts started by a small number of individuals. My reason being that it's often obvious the intention is to create controversy. I am all for sharing info, exchanging opinions and debating nicely and some good old fashion banter and humour but I don't come here to 'argue' or feed the trolls and the ego of certain people. Having said that, I love the forum and hope my post does not offend anyone. I was just interested to know if there are other people who might feel the same and weather you read everything, irrespective of who might have started the post |

unfortunately we don’t live in an ideal World, and therefore, best to try not pay much attention to the ignorant and peeps who have a tendency to form committee so as to bully others, etc. |

I do think that some threads and posts would be better ignored by everyone. Sometimes a thread will be completely derailed because one person makes a deliberately controversial remark and people concentrate on that rather than the op. If the remark was ignored the person making it would not have achieved what they set out to do. |

You are right and always full of wisdom, if I may say so |

OP
Be the change that you want to see on Fab
I stole and modified that quote from Mahatma Gandhi.
Don't let's others drag you down. I see the toxicity in these forums at times and the sarcastic replys to what others have posted.
I hope you don't hold back from expressing yourself in the forums. There's more good than bad.

Someone has commented on another thread something that really annoyed me. So far, nobody has replied to their ignorant view on that subject and for me it’s the best way to deal with it.
If someone writes something to wind others up and it doesn’t get a reaction or reply that person failed with their intention to cause an argument.
Honestly it’s not worth your time or emotion. |

That's true. I now particularly avoid the ones who are deliberately set out to divide and there are plenty of those daily. I don't open the post at all as have now got a list of people that I have no desire to read any of the nonsense they post and the treads they start. That keeps the blood pressure down as well |

I've just been reading such a post and it is very tempting to react but I just reminded myself I'm not here for that. It's the nature of forums unfortunately, there's nothing wrong with debate bur people will post tosh in order to get a reaction |

Take it all with a pinch of salt. I think a lot post tongue in cheek and it gets taken out of context.
The true wind up merchants are few and far between these days, and even then I think they do it just to stir up some action, rather than to be mean. |

As you say, nothing wrong with debate at all. It's the intentionally divisive posts that are started deliberately that way. Especially as the OP will often sit back and enjoy the mayhem ensued. Perhaps ocassionally throwing in a little oil to keep it going - sad really. As someone else said, it is only a few persistent ones though so I certainly make sure I am not even tempted to read their daily garbage |
