Out of the two, it’s Burger King. I’m not a snob when it comes to fast food, it has its place and I’m glad it’s available.

My actual favourite fast food is KFC

I agree with all of your post. However finding a BK these days isn't as easy as it used to be whereas Mcdonalds is still found everywhere. I probably have Mcdonalds 1-2 times a year. Don't remember the last time I had a BK. Wendy's was my fav and has just reopened in Romford but still yet to try it. Next door though a Popeyes has opened and there are constant queues. Am eager to try both soon.

To be honest I’ve not had a BK (the nearest for me is on the motorway services) for quite some time, but generally filled me up and I enjoyed the taste.

I regularly watch ‘rate my takeaway’ on YouTube, some of the fast food available from these independent shops looks really good. So I don’t like the snobbish attitude to fast food. Eaten occasionally it’s not that bad for you or a waste of money.

I find everything at McDs tastes the same, fries, burgers, chicken. I also find the bread far too sweet. Big Mac just tastes of sauce and gherkin.

Burger King however is top notch. The Double Whopper is truly filling with plenty of salad and not dripping in sauce. The bun doesn't collapse part way through eating it either. The fries are nice and thick and much crispier than McDs.

A better choice of drinks at BK too.

I've eat at a Hawaiian themed burger joint in Tokyo based on some famous 50's surfer dude. Don't ask me who? I've no idea??? A real Scooby Doo type of burger (layers.) White castle was what we use to call in New York “24hr clean out food”… in which it only takes 24 hrs to clean out your system and not in a good way!!

If we are talking about stuff that hasn’t ever reached here yet…. In and out burgers are a whole different level!!!

May had just had a McDonald’s double quarter pounder with cheese meal

Would say I prefer BK, but the former are just so much easier and nearer to get too

If you go to the states and never had the olive garden, you haven't visited America. If you go to McDonald's your wasting your money. Go to a bar and grill. Have a burger properly.

BK taste better (but stingy chip portions!) But not many down my way so it's usually a Maccy D - shame they don't do Big Tasties all year tho as that's their best burger!

BK coffee is horrific mind!

Five Guys has gone down hill. It was really good when it opened, albeit expensive. I went a few weeks ago on a whim and it was no better then a Burger King Whopper. Shocking.

"So many better independent options in most towns"

I was thinking the same... But.. Trouble is... Firstly you got to kiss a lot of frogs to find them...

And secondly the quality can be very variable.. From excellent one month to inedible the next.

Franchising. Olive Garden isn't enticing enough to franchise because it isn't that good and there is nothing on the menu or restaurant model that anyone can't simply replicate without paying for a franchising licence.

I don't doubt you are an American, hence will know better than the rest of the world what we shouldn't be eating. I also didn't question how Olive Garden compares to McDonalds as that would simply be silly, to compare two entirely different cuisine.

I have visited many times encompassing road trips throughout many states and sailing along the Florida Keys. I've even had an American girlfriend for 4 years and lived in New York and Dallas for 6 months each. Is that sufficient to qualify as knowing at least a little of what I have said?

There’s a pink joint I don’t even know the name of in the Arndale right now. They think by making it look like an American diner it must be good. But it’s simply not as they are not making an effort on food, just the shop front. And it’s over priced.

Out of those two, burger king but I tend to have mcdonalds more often as its more convenient. My favourite burgers though are from a place called gourmet kitchen near me and their chips are really good too and I'm not a big chip person. I often don't bother getting the chips at mcdonalds they're so bad.

Neither are that good IMO. They're both just mediocre foods of necessity and convenience. What little extra you gain in taste with BK is totally over shadowed by its excessive cost, excessive wait time and generally poorer service and cleanliness. So out the two it's McDonald's for me. And the reasons above are probably the same which helps gibe McDonald's a far larger market share. People vote with their feet.
