What brought you to the forums? I've spoken to people on fab who don't understand the forums.
Is it because without you posting in the forums would you be invisible? Is it easier to start a chat without the need to get lost in others inboxes?
I think without my posting on here I would be invisible |

A number off reasons
To chat
To make friends
To look for friends for good times be in just a social date or to take things further
My main reason to show what kind off person I am
It allows people to see without even needing to chat to me |

This is my fourth profile in 5½ years and the first one where I've actively engaged in the forums so I can't claim to know anything about what went on before 2019 but in regard to cliques I think it very much depends on which forum you use.
There are always those groups of friends with their in jokes who genuinely don't see themselves as being in a clique. There are also more than enough groups who are not only aware of their lack of inclusion but who encourage it for their own reasons.
As to why I use the forums, it's for the same reasons I use the site. I use them as hobby or distraction and they offer an additional filter which often shows a persons true character. |

Seriously, If I wasn’t in the forums or they weren’t here, I would leave.
There’s little character reading a profile, at least reading people often ou get to see lots of someone’s personality.
To say I would be invisible if I wasn’t on here is not the whole story either, you can feel pretty invisible in the forums too.

I use them to see others opinions on thing's and how different people can be in private things they say and their public persona at times. It can also be a handy filter at times also and can help in decisions to contact someone or to avoid someone.
Mostly though they are just a way to spend a bit of time reading when not busy. |

In all seriousness though I had no idea what to expect 5 years ago when I first forayed into the forum ..
But ( and i hope I'm not the only one ) it's totally changed my life .. I've made amazing new friends that I hope will always be friends and socially my life's great and I'm grateful for that ..
That's why I get annoyed with all the negativity sometimes because when you are yourself and have a laugh it can change your life ..
So chill out , have a laugh and enjoy life |

For the first 3 years of being on Fab I didn't know the forums existed. I have used them for the last 7 years.
I enjoy using the forums and catching up on what's going on. It's a great tool for people watching and is fantastic for breaking the ice with people you're attracted to, and enjoy the contributions of. I have had some wonderful meets (social & sexual) with forum folk and have made great friendships both sexual and platonic.

Kinda this ^
A lot of my social media is an echo chamber, I see people I like, photos/videos of activities I like and read posts from people who think like me. Here I have no input, even unintentional, in who or what is posted and that's important to me. I like seeing different points of view. There are many forum users who I perhaps disagree with in lots of ways but who have said or explained something in a way that makes me think. There are also a number of people in here who are (or at least come across as) genuinely nice.
Plus of course there's some really hot pics too see, plenty of things to make me laugh and the odd ego boost from responses I get. I can even try out my awkward, clunky and very undeveloped flirting skills.

It's my downtime.
I seldom take it seriously except when we are being serious.
It's the only place I know where I can say tits fuck arse shit shite piss cunt twat shag feck feltch .... ( ive never said feltch before ) and not be brought to task.
It's the only place I know where I can speak to all ages, listen to all opinions and have contact with people who have changed gender or who are bi, gay, straight , flexi ....
Fair enough you can meet all kinds of people in the 'swinging world' but few of us do. We meet who we want to meet.
Also .... it's the only place I can go into on any day purely to read utter bloody bollocks from people who believe what they say is right just cos they say so or people who have not yet realised that reading one post on facebook or watching one video on you tube does not make you a fucking genius or qualified to give medical information.
And sadly , it's the only place where I pick up that there are so many sad and lonely people in the world.
I like it or I wouldn't do it.
People depending - it can provide a laugh. |

Though I'm currently using the forum a lot less than I used to. It's a good place for a rant or question something without judgement of your family etc.
I've learnt a lot about issues that I don't encounter which is never a bad thing. |

They can’t be that elitist - they let me in!! Agree that you do have to do some legwork to get people to remember you as there’s a lot of people posting stuff. I dont post to get a comment - which is lucky as i rarely do - i put it down to women reading my posts and then needing some ‘me time’ because my sexiness comes through in the posts and they lose control. |

Curiousity, obviously this is a swinging site, so the vast majority of interaction is predominantly between people wanting to fuck.
But in the forums I find you get a weird level of absolute honesty that you don't get from people often and it can be fascinating, I've had some interesting conversations (that are about nobbing).

I joined fab during the 1st lockdown and found that during those times there was a real sense of camaraderie & support on the forums.
I have chatted to and become friends with many through forum interactions and it was a good gateway to real life social events.
The range of topics from silly to informative keeps me here (plus I have waay too much time on my hands, it’s a nice distraction)and I enjoy getting involved in the photo challenges. |

I'm not using the forums as much as I would have, I have posted stories in the past.
Any threads I post I try to just have fun as it's a distraction, I enjoy using them as gives a chance to see how people interact with others and I've discovered some lovely hot profiles |

That’s another topic completely. But I’d say it less clique as it once was. But there’s now much more smaller groups who only interact with each other. |

I see ya.
I'm not sure it's a clique, per se.
More like people that recognise and understand one another's posting styles.
I rarely have any interaction, unless it's sexually related in our inbox or I've spoke up against what I believe to be shitty behaviour.
Have to admit, dick behaviour can bring out the dick in me.
I post for me, nobody else.

I hit the "this is a bit shit" point of view about the site shortly after joining (no messages back, nothing coming to fruition etc). So I found the forums and thought fuck it, I may as well have fun in there as nothing else is working.
Since then I've had a lot of good chats with people I wouldn't have otherwise. It's allowed me to become more comfortable on Fab in general and really express my true self.
I like a mix of threads, serious and more tongue in cheek, just depends what mood I'm in.
As for the clique's, it doesn't bother me. I'm here to post my own stuff and if it doesn't get interaction then so be it. I amuse myself and that'll do me |

I wouldn't say in general that they are elitist but i do roll my eyes when I see comments by people who genuinely give the impression that they should be treated as fab celebs and that their opinion should carry more gravitas simply because they have been here for years.
I've been using the forums for 3 and a bit years now and it took almost 18 months before I got a single reply to any comment I made in the lounge. It took about 3 or 4 months to get a response or acknowledgement in the Irish forum which is much smaller but without that engagement in there I would have given up completely in the forums.
I kept persevering in spite of the often xenophobic replies I did get in here initially.
Once I learned that half of what is said in here is filler and lip service I started to treat the forums as a filter.
They can be amusing and entertaining on one hand but toxic and enabling on the other.

"What brought you to the forums? I've spoken to people on fab who don't understand the forums.
Is it because without you posting in the forums would you be invisible? Is it easier to start a chat without the need to get lost in others inboxes?
I think without my posting on here I would be invisible "
According to the owners of fab less than 1% of fab members use the forum. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
When Lickety first came into being I just read the forum posts to pass the time. Then I got angry at some of the posts and commented.
One post led to another and I joined in games and the epic threads for big events, started to chat to people through DMs, arranged to meet some people and started going to socials and making friends. I like being exposed to people I would not meet socially normally.
Then and now it's a bit of people watching, and a way of getting to know people beyond a FAF message. I'm more likely to want to meet, or just fantasisee about someone where I feel I have got to know them. Sometimes it even led to actual sex in the past (not so these days).
These days I try not to get too involved and just dip in and out when I have time. If it gets too angsty I drop out again. |

Same as the forums on scuba diving, or any other hobby, it's fun to chat with people who have similar interests. Occasionally it turns out that you have nothing else in common, but it's a start point. |

"I joined fab during the 1st lockdown and found that during those times there was a real sense of camaraderie & support on the forums.
I have chatted to and become friends with many through forum interactions and it was a good gateway to real life social events.
The range of topics from silly to informative keeps me here (plus I have waay too much time on my hands, it’s a nice distraction)and I enjoy getting involved in the photo challenges."
Same here!! I think this whole new world saved my sanity in lockdowns |

Long ago when the world was young I spent way too much time here posting the sort of random nonsense that passed some time and amused the occasional deluded people who thought I was more than pixels in the ether...I was one of them!
Now I wander away for weeks, or months at a time, when I return some of the names have changed...the threads less so.
And yet come back I do, usually just for a read, or to see if much has changed and...
Its just like Hotel California... |

…
"
I agree, it’s a mixed bag
I definitely don’t see the forums as a place to make new connections - more of a distraction while online and maybe seeing the views of different people on some controversial topics |
