Should swinging bring your job into disrepute if your employer finds out.
So if you are a policeman, fireman, teacher etc and your employer finds that you visit swinging clubs on the weekend then should you be sacked for bringing your job into disrepute? It's not illegal and it doesn't affect your day job should it matter? |

It's none of their business. I can understand it's awkward if it leads to people question the organisation, like parents questioning a school, but the organisation should just say they don't police their employees' sex lives. |

The straight forward bit is that your sex life is none of their business.
The trickier part is where it may potentially become their business such as having explicit photos/videos of yourself online.
It's for this reason we've never had face pictures on any of our profiles and we don't bother with verifications. |

"Fuck no it shouldn’t, it not illegal"
It's not about wether it's illegal or not. It's about reputational damage.
It totally depends on context really. In their own time, not representing the employer in anyway, discrete play etc then no as the reputational damage is minimal.
Some people though use their uniforms as pulling power and think with their little heads! |

It shouldn't matter, unless people blur the lines. Or end up in the papers. Or talk about their job on the forums. Or take pictures in their uniform.
Swinging itself won't being your job in ti disrepute. How people go about swinging might though "
And there lies the difficulty
When those News of the World type reports infiltrate clubs with the sole intention of outing people in the press. If it's your local milkman then nobody bats an eye but if it's the Head Teacher then it's all over the news |

No it shouldn't be. I think some people do make the mistake of being less than discreet though. Certain professionals should be very careful about the pictures they post and what they allow on social media. It doesn't need to be illegal to make it very difficult to continue doing their job. |

I'm surprised people go to a certain camping event that every year people seem surprised is featured in papers!
Clubs seem old hat now from a press point of view but if yiu end up being there when something goes wrong and police attend that's bad luck with potential huge consequences |

It shouldn’t but unfortunately in some lines of work it does. It wouldn’t for either of our jobs but being recognised whilst at work would raise eyebrows so it’s always best to keep our identity hidden. |

It shouldn't matter, but the moralities of some (most) have been driven into them that anything other than their perceived normal should be frowned upon.
It's a shame that companies view just living life in a different manner as a potential HR violation and cause for disciplinary action.
We don't hide how we live, our sexuality etc. But then again we don't broadcast it either. What we do is our own business, but if asked we are honest |

There is a school of thought that with people in powerful jobs, if they swing they might not know who they are meeting, they can then be used against them or place themselves in positions where they are vulnerable. Its happened with politicians, police, civil servants and lots of other groups in the past.
With Mrs Thompson on the till at Tesco if it becomes common knowledge that she swings will it impact on the store because of other peoples stupidity or ignorant attitudes?
It shouldn't, but people are people, they are quick to judge and slow to learn.

I've seen too many teachers careers ruined by students discovering things about their private life. |

I work in a place where we are in contact with a lot of "famous" people that its in our contract to not post any selfies online, now if you work for a company who have a family friendly presence then they may see swinging as non family...but you have to decide what you need more? Swinging or employment? Unfortunately this is the world we live in |

Because they could get sacked for it. The whole point of the thread. "
I don't think they could get sacked for swinging but take for example Pupil A who is 18 and legally allowed to join fab. They find teacher B with various nude photos on a swingers site which they then show to their friends at school...
A young woman teacher lost her job over a Facebook photo, imagine the fall out over some of the stuff you see on here |

No it shouldn't make any difference.
Things need to move on for the swinging society.
Not too long ago you would get sacked for being gay n if you were transgender, then that would be hell for them.
Thankfully thing have moved on for them n are now accepted as a part of todays society, so hopefully not too long then swingers can be accepted for being themselves n not have to keep things secret. |

Some occupations is not so much bringing your job into disrepute as to if your activities can compromise you such as through extortion.
In other instances it can be seen as a risk, especially if you hold a position of power or authority over another, especially vulnerable groups. |

No and yes all depends
No if your being sensible about it
And yes if your not
Like have pics off your self in a works unform
Or turning up to a swingers club in your fireman’s gear trying to rock the sexy fireman look
As it could be see and damage the reputation off sed place |

Sadly for some yes it could be taken that way so people need to be careful. In the same way as being d*unk in public can be seen as disrepute
In some professions people keep their sexuality hidden to avoid difficult questions. Shouldn't have to but its easier especially in certain places

I agree with most on here. If it doesn't interfere with ones role as a professional then it shouldn't.
MP's have suffered when they are caught looking at 'tractors' whilst in the chamber. If done in private then it shouldn't be an issue. Its only when it crosses from private life into public life that amongst the 'moral brigade' that it does. |

My thought is about people on here having offspring of school age. Other parents finding out and telling their offspring not to speak / play with your offspring. There have been a number of threads about asking if you tell family , friends you are on Fab. ? |

Whether it should is irrelevant, if it's part of your conditions of service then if the particular employer deems the employee has tarnished their reputation or 'brought the service into disrepute' then the employee may well be held to account..
That can be pretty much anything as well as this aspect.. |

In the 70s a couple of my friends had jobs in Woolworths. They were issued with a warning about their behaviour on nights out, which compared to what goes on nowadays was pretty tame. They literally worked on the pic n mix counter. I can't imagine that happening now |

I had to sign a reputational disrepute clause in a previous job. Largely because the client base included high net worth individuals, corporate giants and global multinationals. We handled a hell of a lot of private and confidential data and there were specific teams targeting new clients in all manner of sectors. Someone tried to out me to my boss many moons ago but thankfully I'd maintained enough discretion on here to be able to deny that what had been shown to them was me. Had I had my face on my profile or any identifying marks in graphic pics then that wouldn't have been possible. So I kept my job.
Regardless of your personal view, if a prospective client didn't share the notion that swinging and casual sex with strangers was an entirely personal issue, felt strongly against it for their own moral, religious or just individual reasons, then the risk was there that should they find out the person employed by the company was into that scene then there's a strong possibility that they'd not want to become a client, or if they already were, may choose to take their business elsewhere - resulting in financial and reputational issues for the company you're employed by.
You can't control the views of others. Just because you have no issues being in the scene doesn't mean your attitude will be appreciated by employers, customers & clients, prospective customers or anyone else interacting with that business.
So whilst not ideal, it's perfectly understandable that companies aren't always keen on people's lifestyle choices despite them being perfectly legal.
It's not just private companies. Public sector jobs can be the same. The self employed need to ensure they don't lose business through their online interactions and private life activities.
People judge and make decisions on who they want to do business with based on not just what a company can offer but on who they will be dealing with. And if they don't like you or feel they've heard/seen things they don't like then there will be implications.
That's life. And Life is not always fair.

In my mind the only way that should be classified as bringing the employer into disrepute is if you directly link them to your activities. Such as taking rude photos in their clearly identifiable uniform or photos of you doing rude things in your place of work or claiming to have had sex in works time, etc. But simply having a problem with how you express yourself sexually out of work is IMO discrimination, pure and simple. I don't buy the line that swinging is contrary to your employers values and therefore a valid reason. |

See my previous comment.
Your employer may not actually give a shit.
Their customers and clients might though. And that is what matters.

My chosen career could potentially lead me open to being questioned about it, thinking I’m easy. It’s a very hard job and you have lots of different individuals to think of!
If I was doing this career in the states I probably would think twice about doing this due to the fact that it could be used against me. |

What I think to that is it there real job or a costume that I won’t know unless I actually know them so I’m not about to potentially ruin someone for that even if they are stupid enough to send pictures in there work uniform with a face showing |

So each contract is different and it’s a new area. I know sine quote prominent women on OF and Insta that have very high profile jobs in the city and they have a real good way of managing it. They tackle the stereotype head on , challenging those attitudes and with confidence they can express themselves how they like and still run a department or company etc . But they are not swinging just being followed by lots of men (and women) . Plus they are mostly black and so kind of had to deal with similar attitudes to get where they are |

Not bringing your your employer into disrepute will most likely be a condition of contract, in which case, legal or not, you're at risk of dismissal.

As mentioned above, it can only be something to do with your company if you act inappropriately and bring their name into the public demain alongside your actions.
Other than that, they can jog on as your private and social life is for you to have as your own |

Absolutely not!
It's like penalising Professionals to only one form of sexual satisfaction,Gratification,We all fuck, we all eat, sleep etc... equal for all. I'm sure police officers, doctors, teachers, firemen,Dentists and so on would benefit greatly from attending Clubs, meets up or personal 121s It would be their Adulting time away from their daily lives, just the same as anyone else. I've chatted to consultants many times that put themselves into university and work right from the age of 18 to the point they didn't know anything else and actually lived a rather lonely life.
However, I feel it should be kept discreet and respectful, for example, you see your kids school teacher at a club or you arrange a meet up to discover the police officer helped you in a difficult situation where you're both attending court. Or a surgeon thats booked in to do yours or your families operation.
There is a fine line in this situation of yes we will respect each others dynamics with 100 percent discretion and enjoy it for what it is away from everyday life, or discretion of said acknowledgement with a fair well and good luck
Respect each others situations and enjoy life it's too short.
Happy safe fabbing everyone |

"There is the honey trap scenario that many professionals need to consider. Employers are rightly cautious of industrial espionage by their own people being coerced. "
I understand that from a security point of view and security clauses are fair enough in certain positions. Although often it's more a case that the organisation has to be happy that you are open about your activities and thus not prone to black mail rather than you can't do those activities. However in my opinion contractual security clauses are a separate issue from a claim of bring the organisation into disrepute. |
