No, I try to stop my kettle before it boils. I don’t want boiling water for my brew.

You should never reboil water unless it's distilled or deionised.

My mum use to do it. Something about descaling. Probably doesn't apply now

Nope,

Boiling water not the best for tea, it should cool a little before adding to the tea, only like 5 degrees for black tea, a bit more green teas

Gotta boil it first though or it taste crap! Ever had tea from the automatic coffee machines? They only take water to 97 degrees which is fine for the coffee but no good for tea.

Yes if I think I've left it too long after boiling and think it's gone cold for my cuppa.

And most of the time it really wasn't that long ago

"You should never reboil water unless it's distilled or deionised."

This is a myth that has been debunked.

Why was it a myth in the first place, what was the theory behind not being able to boil it again?

I do the same. It's like when a tennis player checks the tennis balls before serve and then throws one away.

Totally the same thing.

No?

Just me?

2 months ago, I took the fuse out of our kettle.

I now boil just the right amount of water in a small saucepan on our induction hob.

It's twice as quick and half the cost.
