Too old for a tattoo?

I'm thinking of getting a couple of tattoos, mainly for cosmetic reasons, on my calf's, as my legs embarrass me in shorts. I'm VERY nearly 65, is that too old?

I often wish I'd got them when I was toned. That ship has sailed, so it would probably look naff on me, but you go for it

It’s personal choice at the end of the day but I’m yet to see someone with good tattoos that doesn’t look great. Terrible tattoos is another story.

Mrs has a couple and loves them but she can’t deal with the pain so won’t get more. I’d be covered if I could afford it.

Have you got some designs planned? If you get a good artist just tell them what bothers you and they will work with you to find something you will feel proud to show off.

My Stepdad was pushing 70 when he got his first. Just do it! Better to regret the things you've done than the things you haven't.

Yes I have. Being a motorcyclist, they are biker themed, with the larger and darker one covering the offending calf.

Could send a pic if you like? X

If your legs embarrass you, then if it's varicose veins then a reputable tattooist with not do it. As this can lead to implications. If there's no health reasons then go for it age is irrelevant

Yes it's varicose veins.

I've done plenty of research, and a lot of tattooist's say it's fine.

I'm good friends with my tattoo artist and she regularly tells me of 'older'(not old) clients she gets who come and see her for their first tattoo

I think being 'too old' for something is subjective.

I'm nearly 40 and almost covered but if I still have space when I'm 65 ill continue to have them

Just go what you want and what makes you happy. Anyone who thinks you're too old for a tattoo isn't anyone you need in your life x

I have 2 varicose veins I've had since I was child and had both of them tattooed over with no issues.

You're only too old for something when you're dead. Life is short, do whatever you want to do!

You can only be too young. Get a tramp stamp when you're 18, it's disappeared in the arse crack by the time you're 68...

I could recommend a few good slartists around the Midlands if you're still looking, depending on the the style/design you've picked

Zac has some upper body tattoos which suit him. Me(Jane) I've never ever wanted any.

I think as long as a person has them for individual personal reasons that mean alot to that person! then age or gender is irrelevant.
