"The smell of dettol whips me straight back into childhood - any cuts and scrapes got a wipe with diluted dettol, a capful was always stuck in Grandma's tin bath in front of the fire (yeah I know, I'm old enough to have had a grandparent in a 2up2down with an outside privy and no bath)...didn't know it was a phenolic compound though "Did you ever have cuts and minor injuries treated with Iodine? That's what they used in my family and we hated it... Mind you it made us better people... errr I think! | |||

Did you ever have cuts and minor injuries treated with Iodine? That's what they used in my family and we hated it... Mind you it made us better people... errr I think! "Nope, only use I can remember for iodine is that I was told that iodine tablets were given out after the Windscale fire in the 50's - supposed to protect the thyroid - other childhood remembrances are being covered with calamine lotion when I had chickenpox and having mouth ulcers painted with gentian violet | |||
