Nor me.

Absolutely no problem with naked bodies outside, but inside, especially places that sell food and drink is a no no.

It just doesn't feel hygienic, especially on a hot sweaty day.

And at schools? Really? Just doesn't feel very appropriate.

I wouldn't personally walk in a supermarket topless. But I find the prudish attitudes on display hilarious.

If the arguments about standards then presumably they should also be turning away the scantily clad? Work wear? Do short skirts meet the standard or is that bare skin too unhygienic?

You are less likely to drip sweet on the fruit and veg as you are leaning over it to grab those melons at the back if you are wearing a top, even a vest top.

As for bikinis, they should be treated the same, and the shops I've read about that have done something about topless men have also done something about people in bikinis.

It's obvious you don't agree, and that's fine, but many people do agree so if you choose to go topless don't be upset if people respond negatively to it.

I, too, didn't realise that people needed to be told that they needed to be dressed before entering establishments.

"Some of the attitudes on display have been prudish. Snobbish. And worse.

There are plenty of supermarkets near to beaches where it's normal to see people in beachwear.

I'm amazed anybody notices what anyone wears in a supermarket. In my experience nobody acknowledges anybody in those places.

Its a place of work a place where people shop, am far from being a snob or a prude theres just a time and place

Tesco is the time to dress up

Because standards "

I could’ve sworn I read a post recently about a model / actress attending a premier the other day in a shear see through dress that clearly showed all of her tits.

She was applauded on here and numerous comments were made about it ‘only being two nipples’ and ‘it’s the 21st century so she should be allowed to wear a dress like that without being ridiculed’.

But god forbid a bloke posting about being topless on the hottest day of the year and the pitchforks come out. Talk about moving the goalposts FFS

I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get a phone call from a teacher or get spoken to because you should not be going into school grounds not fully dressed. It is common decency to put clothes on when you are in a public space. If you are sunbathing or sat down somewhere or going for a stroll that's one thing, But going to a supermarket or into a café or restaurant you should absolutely put a top on.

What, in Tesco? Pretty sure if I rocked up to Tesco topless, the police would be called. I can't imagine any women choosing to go shopping with her boobs out. On the beach? An entirely different scenario, as is the topless dudes thing (which is fine on the beach etc). Don’t move the goalposts to suit your narrative. It’s either right or it’s wrong. Stick with one and stand by it. You can’t bash the bloke and then in the same sentence say but it’s OK to do it in a different environment. This just proves my point FFS.

It doesn't take a genius to work out it can be acceptable in some settings and not others. Most supermarkets require you to be fully clothed before you enter a that is perfectly reasonable so it doesn't prove your argument at all. If the people running the event the woman attended without a top on thought it was acceptable that's OK. To complain you are not allowed in somewhere because you don't fit the dress code seems silly.

And then we open up the whole ‘free the nipple’ argument. Why is mans naked nipples ok to be out in public, but not a woman’s? Why are womens nipples sexualised but not mens?

Personally I agree with most of the comments that there’s a time and a place… the beach, in the garden, sunbathing in a park perhaps, but no one (well, almost no one lol) wants to see nipples (male or female) when they’re doing their food shop. It takes two seconds to chuck on a vest or a tshirt. You’d be cold in certain supermarket aisles anyways

WTF? It's you moving the goal posts, from Schools and Tescos to a Film Premiere!

I was keeping it the same and saying in those situations the responses would have been the same whether it was a man or women.

Is it exceptable to be in swimming costumes at the beach? - yes. In a nursery or at a funeral parlour? - no.

Environment and situation IS important!

Or do you believe the human hair, exposed skin and breath of normal customers is somehow more hygienic than the male nipple?

The Village

Society in general does seem to have an unreasonable dislike for the male nipple and male ankle. But why would you want to go in any supermarket without your shirt on? It's cold in those chilled food aisles. Last time I was in Lidl my nipples nearly poked a hole through my shirt they we're that stiff.

I agree with others, put a shirt on. There's a time and place to be topless and in a supermarket isn't one of them

I walked around Morrisons / Asda / Tesco / Halfords in my swimsuit most of week inbetween being on beach / outdoors sunbathing/ exercising.

Only once did I get asked if I had anything to cover my boobs up more with as my costume is very cleavage happy , when I said no the guy just asked me to please try shop fast as i may give the old boys a heart attack. Made me and my friend chuckle

Saw so many guys just in shorts and no tops on and quite a few women / girls in tiny thong bikinis. I think down here at coast no one really bats an eyelid. Now if I was back in Swindon my guess would be store guards may ask you to cover up cleavage / chest etc

I did see lots of people on shirts with huge sweat marks all over / dripping which I find more off putting than a topless guy grabbing a cheese sandwich and crisps .

Apparently Lidl has a dress code too:

Lidl told The Sun its only dress code requirement is that customers wear shoes.

It said: “We can confirm that other than footwear for healthy and safety purposes, we don’t have any specific rules in place relating to clothing in our stores.”

I'm only shopping at Lidl from now on

Possibly, but I think getting your boobs out in a public place would still cause consternation. If women can't (from a societal perspective) go topless in the street, then why can blokes? Why is the female chest considered to be so different? We all have nipples because of the way embryos develop before the Y chromosome kicks in.....

Because it's not the same thing is it. Womens tits are for leering at, squeezing, licking, wanking over, fucking, spunking over. They have literally no other use whatsoever.

Men's nipples on show merely prove that they are manly men.

Winston and I have an impending "platonic man-date". We're bringing along our "bag for life" shopping bags and starting off at Fortnum and Mason, Partridges (fine grocers), then Selfridges food hall and finishing off at Davidoff™ for our smokers' requisites (cue smoking jacket).

We will abide by any statutory dress codes along the way.

Apart from Harrod's™ because they ask for all backpacks to be removed and carried by hand. Fuck 'em!

To complain you are not allowed in somewhere because you don't fit the dress code seems silly.

So let me get this right. The said photograph that I mentioned did appear in a news media platform that is easily accessible to young people. But how would people have reacted if she tried picking her kids up from school, grabbing a McDonald's or picki g fresh fruit for Tesco's dressed like that?

I'm imagining, exactly like they have here.

So let me get this right. The said photograph that I mentioned did appear in a news media platform that is easily accessible to young people. But as you say it’s acceptable cause the organisers of the event said so. It certainly doesn’t take a genius to see that you’d kick up a right stink if your young person was ogling the photo you’d certainly have a different opinion then.

I can imagine the conversation now ‘it’s OK Tilly, the organisers of the event said that’s perfectly acceptable for her to walk around with her boobs out, you continue to look at her she’s beautiful’ but as a bloke walked past with his top off ‘turn away Tilly, don’t look at that disgusting vile man, how dare he’.

Genius you say. FFS

Surely any issue with photos appearing on a news platform would be an issue with the news platform showing them and nothing to do with the act and the event?

I refer back to my original comment of you moving the goal posts. Mine are cemented in place and you can’t move them "

Tin town

"Some gold here. It's filthy to be topless but you can walk wherever you like in filthy clothes!?!

Tesco is all about common respect, standards and decency

I'd love to see the reactions by people here to the shoppers in Cap D'Agde

Well I guess if people were shopping in a nudist resort they might not be surprised if people were nude? But as they weren't...

To be honest it was still a bit of a surprise.

But nothing like the shock of seeing a bare torso in Tesco And the legs! Naked legs everywhere. And arms. But the faces are the worst. Exposed dribbling lips, snotty noses, dandruff and ear wax all dripping over the fresh veg.

Just awful. Cover yourselves people. We need standards in our supermarkets. Standards."

We need standards in our communities. Why should I care what others do or think? Because we share a society and we all get along A bit better without people being selfish and disrespectful of others.
