Large parts of Leicestershire are also ablaze.
I'm really hoping that my former colleagues working on the North Yorkshire Moors aren't having too tough of a time. |

They're asking for donations of water, cold sugary drinks and biscuits for the firefighters as they're having to go from one fire to another. There's been 10 fires across London. |

Anyone who is within reasonable distance any fires, be mindful of air quality for vulnerable people, particularly those with asthma and other respiratory conditions. Closed windows - even if it'd take the heat out of the house - better for lung health if there's a lot of smoke or ash in the air.
(I'm assuming not thinking of evacuation, but listen out) |

Yes there was black smoke billowing from the field. We have a little blowing our way from the park fires, but not too bad.
My windows are shut to keep the heat out all day. I stepped into my back garden just now and the heat stifled me.

Also a nursery and houses burnt down on my mum's estate today after a fire started in a shed. Luckily community support for those evacuated has been massive and they have asked for people to stop donating. |

Just seen our local Sainsbury's on the ITV national news. Fields behind it and behind the next door pub have been on fire. Crews have finally put the fires out and are dampening the fields to make sure they don't relight.

Well, the road the big fire was near is a main road taking goods from Tilbury and Dagenham Docks into London and god knows where. Just a few years ago it was big news that a freight train was travelling 7500 miles from China to Barking, where the goods will have to be distributed around England, along the A13. And me. My daughter is in a second floor flat with 3 babies and a teenager. I worry how she'll get them all out in an emergency. We've both got an escape plan thought out but if it's dark and the lights fail I'd be scared of falling with the babies in my arms.
A balcony near her flat caught fire a couple of years ago and it went through 3 others and 2 flats in no time.

That's a good idea. I don't know if the stairwell has emergency lighting but there is an alternative exit one flight down she could possibly use.
The scary thing is they had to have fire Marshalls for months after Grenfell, and hundreds of flats adjacent to hers are having the cladding removed.
The balcony fire was started by someone leaving a bbq on it and a mattress falling onto the used bbq. People are stupid.

Just watching a video on Facebook taken by a firefighter who said it's about 20/30 houses gone. The houses are gutted and some still have fires inside them. He said they just managed to get a disabled man out in time and he's never seen anything like it. A whole estate of houses gone.

These people's lives will go on but at this moment in time they're going through a traumatic event and others are allowed to recognise that and should be able to do it without judgment and name calling.

It's not about people moaning it's too hot it is about people losing everything in a fire. It is about people putting their lives at risk to put these fires out, It is about people being upset. We currently have 3 fires burning in very close proximity to where we live and it is very unsettling. |

I hope everyone can recover soon and rebuild their lives. It's an awful time for them.
We see news reports about big fires oversees and you hear the majority of people talking about it saying how devastating it must be for everyone. Big fires happen over here and it's not the same reactions. It should be. A big fire, devastation, loss of possessions, homes and lives are the same no matter where it happens. |

We live backing onto fields so were getting a bit jumpy , there for the grace of god and all that, I can't comprehend someone losing everything they had in an instance

They ran out of appliances to despatch to incidents at about 4pm..
Several other brigades also had no resources, there's never been that many brigades in living memory that declared a major incident..
Since 2010 there's been a reduction of over 11,000 firefighters..
