Hi all
A bit concerned.
We don’t give out our numbers but some dude video called me earlier. No idea who the hell he was and I’ve obviously blocked his number.
This happened over WhatsApp. Name came up as ~Johnnyboy.
I have friends called John and just guessed they changed WhatsApp name. Nope! Complete and utter stranger.
Has anyone else had similar? |

That's because you added them if you haven't added them the name won't come up. So if I was to WhatsApp you we had never had any contact My number would come up but not my name. |

Do they? I've never had that before it's always just come up with a number until I add them. I suspect in the OP's case it was just a wrong number. |

The person has a nickname, that I didn't know at the time. I thought my phone had added a random word. |

This can be done as in your number could have been got from as email or possibly someone who just wanted to find who youz are. Friend of mine use to do a lot of "PI" work and showed me what could be got from a username or email ect. I wouldn't fret all the same as if it was just an nuisance call or even at best a mere wrong number. But if it persists then look at getting it sorted but understandably it can be unsettling |

I’ve searched my phone and no contact of his name nor nickname
I hide my number on telegram and have rarely given out username
Wasn’t a business. Was some bald older dude possibly naked. I hung up basically straight away without showing my face. Blocked straight after! |

You're number can get sold on just like companies do. A name would come up on WhatsApp even if they aren't in your contacts as people save their name/nickname on to their WhatsApp and that's what shows unless they are in your contacts.
Have you just blocked on WhatsApp or on your phone too?

Blocked all round.
Yeah was just on WhatsApp and showed in my recent calls too. It’s not right that people do that shit! It freaked us the fuck out.
I answered it as though it was a mate. He didn’t say nothing. I took the phone away to check the call and I see this dude!
Like before, I said “who the fuck!” And hung up and blocked straight away.
