Dog owners beware, I went down to a local beach last night about 8ish half a mile walk 2 dog owners were having to carry their dogs back up as they would just sit down, don't think they had been on the beach all day just gone out for usual evening walk. |

Thats why I only take my boy early in the morning and late at night. If for what ever reason I'm up later and it's hot I take him out in the garden where there's lots of shade. Not worth putting his life at risk . |

Cooler in the evening plus he loves a good sniff around |

To be honest, mine can sit down on a cold day as he loves pretending he needs a carry!
But you're absolutely right, taking no risks in the heat. Doggo and I have been taking very leisurely strolls in the early mornings or late evening with a shady paddling pool in the garden if he needs it...

Took ours out at 7, a few other owners doing the same too..
That's it for today, no second walk and tomorrow it'll probably be 6 am..
Tuesday they may have to miss out but as said it won't hurt them not too.. |

"There are some very stupid people out there
They wouldn’t think of putting a fur coat on and running about but insist on dog walks ffs what is wrong with them " quite agree |

"Some people shouldn’t have dogs. No dog ever died from not having a walk
That's an odd statement "
Think what their saying is in this hot weather a dog will survive not going on it’s regular walk rather than risking the dogs life walking in the hot weather |

Many dogs can die on walks.
They can lost, run over, stolen or attacked by other dogs.
And in this heat people are going to die, let alone those with full fur coats
Mine is staying indoors in the high temperature, like it or not.
If she starts panting I will bather her and let her air dry, she likes that
As I said on Fabio's thread about the heat, frozen water bottles, with a towel round are good for them to lie next to.
Rabbits really suffer in heat so if you have any get them inside and keep giving them a frozen water bottle. |

I’ve been and bought a small hard plastic kids sand pit and filled it with water, my two dogs are in it all the time, also put a cover over the whirly washing line so it’s in the shade |

Took my boy for a great swim on the river this morning. He absolutely loves it there .
They’ll be no more walkies for him today now apart from possibly a quick one once it starts getting dark.
I also have a dog walking business . Have told all clients that there won’t be any walks tomorrow apart from the ones I do early doors. All lovely people and appreciative that I am looking out for their dogs welfare . |
