Yeah we have them too.
Glad you enjoy them.
Mr NBVN is awesome and I just need to relax more. A couple of little incidents have made me a bit nervous, but I just need to regain my confidence.

"Get up to Scotland. Incredible paddling up there."
One day maybe, but we have the sea about 100m from our house and lot's to explore down here.
But looking forward to being able to take the board to different locations.
People feel free to post great open water locations anywhere in the UK and beyond.
We'd particularly like to hear of any Hampshire area locations.
Many thanks. |

Haven't paddled in Hampshire.
Canals are a great option for starting out.
Worth learning about when best to use ankle leash Vs waist leash if using rivers if you haven't already. Plus obviously make sure you understand local tides and winds when coastal.
Hoping to do a fair bit of paddling in Brittany next month. |

"I wouldn't be able to do it.
But I keep considering a body board "
Anyone can do it. You just have to be prepared to get wet a few times to begin with
It doesn't take long to get your balance. Just remember, the stiffer the better... the board that is. |

"Possibly a stupid question but can you paddle board without standing up? Is adaptive paddleboard a thing?! "
I have seen people kneeling, and sitting cross-legged.. |

You don't have to stand no.
Many spend most time kneeling.
Adaptive, depends what adaptations you'd need, you can get sit on top kayak like seats for them so they can be paddled with a conventional kayak double bladed paddle.
PM if you'd like to know more... |

I can only kneel on softer surfaces for short periods. For example, I can't kneel on a hard floor. Kayak type seat sounds interesting, I might well get in touch. Thank you. I'm always keen to find new sporting activities |

An inflated board is quite solid, although there is foam on top, it's not that soft.
But could alternate between kneeling and siting in kayak style seat.
I can send some pics. |

Surely after the initial few trips out on a paddle board ...it just gets a bit boring? A bit like wearing crocs... when every fucker got them .... they just became a bit lame?
Okay. Deep breath. I’m ready for the onslaught X |

Without a rant
If you mean going in circles 20 yards from the shore on a day at the seaside and falling in a lot
Yes it would get spectacularly boring
But
If you race or go on point to point trips on canals or rivers or the sea and see things from an entirely new perspective it never gets boring
The water and conditions change the colours change with the seasons
It’s Epic |

"I see loads where I am but a few mouthfuls of canal water can put you in hospital!..
That's what puts me off! "
Don't fall in and if you do keep your mouth closed ... Most wild swimmers, kayaker's etc drink Coke after if they have had a couple of mouthfuls of water... |

Think it's boring myself and due to waves it's pretty crap paddling along the coast unless you're quite far out.
More enjoyable going up and down a river to a point and having a meal or something and heading back.
It's as exciting as going cycling with the kids tbh |

"Anyone else got one?
We have recently purchased one and love it.
I’m looking at starting… any tips? Where to buy etc "
There's loads of packages out there, just read the reviews and try and buy from a reputable dealer, they don't have to be super expensive either... |

If you want a stable board
Something like decathalon , their own brand called Itiwit , 30 or 31 inch wide
Don’t go wider it’s like towing a barge
The key as always is length most beginner boards are 10ft 6inch
But you will find life easier with a 12 foot
And once you get better and more practised buy a narrower board so you move faster and easier |

Yeah I love river paddling , I live on the sea so have had to adapt to paddling in waves so it is T so much of an issue now , as a beginner I fell in a lot !
Being further out does help your absolutely right
People shit it when they are far from shore
But the water is calmer and as long as you have a waist leash on and hopefully a PFD your perfectly safe and will have a great time |

It doesn't get boring. You'll be amazed how close to wildlife you can get and in clear waters you can see everything you paddle over.
On canals it can be pretty social. And you don't need to swallow canal water
I'd be more bothered by what they pump into the river system! |

I saw the decathlon offer the other day…. Think I might venture |

You should , it’s not difficult to do and it’s an amazing sport to get involved in , also inflatables can be taken everywhere so you won’t ever run out of places to explore |

I've got inflatable kayaks, I have only used them twice but really enjoyed it, hoping to use them this weekend.
I'm gonna look out for a paddle board as well, I'm not sure I would be able to balance, but my kids would. |

Used ours to paddle round to a nudist beach yesterday. Found a little inlet that was cut off from the main beach until low tide so had it all to ourselves for the morning. |

I managed to get out on mine for my first go last weekend....loved it. Looking forward to getting out more and being a bit more confident on it.
......and it's an excuse to get my pervy kicks in a wetsuit |
