Both men and women revealed on Twitter that they are no longer wearing pants or knickers to keep cool in the heatwave and doctors claim that going commando is a good thing.
Medics say that removing underwear allows sweating so the skin cools more efficiently, while it also reduces body temperature and can improve sperm count for men.
Sexual health expert Samantha Evans said: "For better health in intimate parts, women should ditch underwear whenever they can and wear long dresses or skirts."
The medical group Rush added: "Skin is a part of your body's cooling system. Sweating cools the body and keeps its temperature in a healthy range."
Commando converts have taken to social media to encourage others to join them, with one user tweeting: "Free movement with no underwear is good for the wedding tackle in the heat."
