Advice / thoughts please
Had a zoom interview on Monday was told I'd hear back in the next 24 hours if I was successful or not. Chased up yesterday and left my number - resisting all urges to ring again today ! |

This should be a red flag about the company. |

I think the best thing you can do is keep looking for other jobs to take your mind off it. Did they say whether they were taking other interviews as maybe they want to go through everyone before making a decision. |

I was the last interview of the day so they might still be going through the other candidates. I am trying to distract myself ! |

Sounds to me like they are still looking. Call them and make sure they know you are the best candidate. |

I had a few months of this cat and mouse job game back end of last year. I really don't think the employers think about the potential employees anxiety waiting for that elusive phone call ! |

I'd personally keep looking elsewhere. Some companies get so many cvs sent and don't get back to you. But seeing as you've had a video call, Id say your at least one of the people they have short listed for the role |

I had an interview one Monday afternoon. Was told I would defo be contacted by Tuesday lunchtime.
Wednesday evening rolled around. "hello, sorry it's late in the day, but we'd like to offer you the job"
Don't worry if it's a little late, stuff happens. Give it three days or to the Friday (if three days is the weekend)
Best of luck! |

"Maybe ring them tomorrow. At least then you can say you’re getting in touch before the weekend starts (if they shut for the weekend) "
This if you haven't heard by 1pm tomorrow then call. Its reasonable to seek an answer after the time window has ended and before a weekend.

If they said that they would contact you and they haven't, thats not the type of company you want to work for.
Keep looking until you find the right company.
A bit of unsolicited interview advice. Remember your are interviewing them as much as they are you. You are a valuable asset to a company get them to prove that they should have you as an employee.
Good luck. |

I agree with this, but would also say taking more than 24 hours to decide on who to appoint isn't necessarily the sign of an inefficient company either, especially if it was close, though they perhaps shouldn't have been so rash to specify a timeframe they couldn't meet!
Good luck, OP. The wait is torture but hope you get some good news. If it was a job you really wanted, I personally wouldn't turn it down of offered because they took too long to call you, but you'll know what's best for you! |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
If you've called them back once, leave it, and forget about it.
No more you can do.
Unless.... if you went via an agency, hassle the agency like buggery, because you don't care about them being seen as pushy - that's their job. |

If you have an email address, drop a polite email.
"It was great to meet you, thank you for the experience regarsless of outcome, if you need any more info from me, please don't hesitate to ask" or something along those lines. Keeps you fresh in their mind, shows willing/keenness, and opens the opportunity for more conversations. |
