Working from home and decided to watch the new series of Embarrassing Bodies.
There's a woman who has lichen sclerosus and it's affecting her vagina making it very painful when she has sex and the skin around the vagina bleeds.
Maybe she couldn't get the help she needed from her own GP and part of the deal for being on the show was to expose herself for all and sundry? Who knows? My question is, would you go on the TV and talk about, and show, your genitalia if there was something medically wrong?

If you go to the doctor then you will still have to get your genitals out to show him/her so if they couldn't do anything but I found another doctor that could then yes I would, even if it meant doing so for them on TV.nowadays if you have surgery then there's always junior Dr's watching. |

It normalises getting your bits out and checking yourself...
So am all in support of anything raising awareness of things
But personally I won't be getting my anal fissure or torn frenulum out...

I wouldn’t do it but I’m glad somebody has for awareness, I suffer from LS (currently in remission) and it’s important that people know about it because it makes you more susceptible to vulval cancer. I had it checked by a nurse who told me it was nothing, it was only when I went back to see my GP having done my own research that it was diagnosed. |
