I wonder if anyone went to the Southport airshow the weekend just gone. I went on the Sunday wasn't very happy with the display that I saw, years gone by were fantastic but this year wasn't the best  |

It’s Farnborough Airshow next week and all the planes are flying about this week for validation (except the red arrows who fly to their own safety specs and not the airshow’s).
The displays aren’t so great as pilots are now prohibited from doing aerobatics over residential land since the Shoreham accident. A lot of it is now just flypasts. Even at Farnborough it’s the same old same old now |

Operational tempos and costs dictate participation by military assets.
Private operators are facing the same pressures, and are choosing their attendance a lot more selectively.
It’s happened for as many years as I’ve been going to airshows. Every year seems to be inferior to the previous. |
