London 7/7 remembrance day.
Jump to: Newest in thread
I remember this day like yesterday. I was in London on this day and remember full heartily the events.
It right to remember those not with us anymore but today I will be remembering the best of London that day people helping each other shops, bar etc offering a safe place to hide.

"I remember that, I can’t believe it was 17 years ago."
Wowza! Yes me too! I had meeting in Lille and thankfully my Eurostar left before event unfolded. Both my colleagues were caught up on the delay and postponed their trip... So it was fun representing company on my own as relative junior...
I still get a shudder when I walk around Tavistok Square. In memory... |

"Today london marks 17 years since the 7/7 terror attacks, let us never forget "
Wow 17 years. Could of easily been on the tube but was in NZ…a group of us all looked at each other in disbelieve as news came through on our phones.
Will never forget |

"Is it wrong i remember nothing about that day but i do remember 9/11"
No not wrong at all, there's been so many events be they Hillsborough, Manchester, the Herald etc that it's difficult at times to keep track and in all honesty not healthy to dwell on them all.. |

I was on duty at another vulnerable site, listening to the early news reports and we ramped things up very quickly, realising what was going on.
I later learned that my niece was on the underground at the time and was running to catch one of the trains that got bombed, but fortunately missed it. Scary. |

I remember working in the city that day. My ex called me saying the train had stopped and started reversing away from Liverpool street at speed. It was just sinking in, that this was no power surge.
The silence in the aftermath was awful. No one was bothered about how to get home. The thoughts were for those not going home.

I was (and still am) living in Southgate and always took the Piccadilly line to Covent Garden where I was working at the time. Thankfully I was running late that day and ended up stranded in the tunnel for a few hours rather than well, a few tube trains further up the line. Took me a few days to brave the tube again after that. |

I remember it very clearly too. Trying to contact family members to check they were okay. My dad was on a train that got stopped at Milton Keynes. When he finally made it to London he said you could still smell the smoke. He walked everywhere because his partner was too scared to get on public transport. I remember him showing me the shrapnel marks on the building from the bus. |

I remember it really clearly too - an awful day.
I remember trying to cross London for a job interview. No idea what was happening as first the tube was closed and then buses stopped too, it was a while before I caught the news (way slower than it would be now with smart phone!) before a long walk home surrounded by shell shocked people.
But as others have said, the reaction of the city in the immediate days and weeks afterwards made me very proud to be a Londoner, including just getting on the tube and going back to work the next day. |

I remember where I was… I was off that day but I was working in customer care for east coast railways at the time…
Basically I ended up talking a lot of the national trains company calls that day as I volunteered to do those from home as everyone else lines were going ballistic in the office
I also remember ringing my mum who at that time was a department head at great Ormand street hospital.. as soon as I knew information, because GOSH is the nearest hospital to the bus that blew up in Tavistock square, even though they are a children’s hospital, they went into emergency plan and took a lot of cases in before they were transferred out |
