Fred, a 15-year-old yellow lab - took the little birdies under his paw when their mother abandoned them but the pooch is no stranger to being a papa as in 2018, he gained fame for adopting nine ducklings who had suffered a similar fate.
The proud adoptive father lives at Mountfitchet Castle in Essex and loves to show off his foster children to the staff and visitors to the premises.
Jeremy Goldsmith, the director of the castle called interspecies parenthood is now “second nature” to Fred.
He told the Paper: “Over the 15 years of owning him, Fred has spent a lot of time at the Castle with the animals and it has become second nature to him being amongst the various rescued animal.
