London Olympics can't believe it's been that long.

Feels like it was just a couple of years ago, such a special time in this countries history.

So many goosebumps moments.

London

"Did london benefit for having it?"

I think so, Stratford has been completely changed from a bit of a dump to a semi-desirable place to live. The Olympic stadium is in full use with football, baseball, nfl, athletics and concerts.

The copper box is a great venue as is the pool which the public can use.

We didn’t do a bad job!

Wow guys just trying to relieve some magical moments of sporting excellence and the spirit of togetherness that it brought.

I was lucky enough to have helped out on the triathlon course.

I can't stop people posting negative stuff but was just trying to bring some good memories back.

Cheers for putting a downer on things.

Great summer that was. I went to a few events I was lucky to get tickets for. And I’ve swam in the pool since too (with Ellie Simmonds in fact), which was cool

The Olympic legacy - those that lived in the shit hole host boroughs can no longer afford to buy properties and there is no longer any cheap or social housing for our kids.

But on a positive note, it's only £8 for a pint of craft beer and we have all the vegan chicken outlets we could ever need.

Stourbridge

Flipping 'eck that has flown by. I remember the BBC having 26 different channels so you could watch any of the sporting contests

Not all that North of North London

"Did london benefit for having it?"

Depends how you define 'benefit'?

The Olympic venues are well used and left a sportind legacy but did Stratford benefit?

The accommodation was sold off to investors who inevitabily sold the flats at a premium when it had been lauded as social/affordable housing when the arguments for compulsory land purchases to develop the sites that later became the Olympic Village were being put forward in the early noughties.

All that happened is that Stratford got gentrified like the rest of London and the locals look on

I did not see it like that but you have a point, but think the housing issue is now London wide and I also fear for my kids. On the plus side for those that already lived there they will have seem a massive property vale increase and if they are like me will cash out and dodge when the time is right!

10 years ago I ended up in a cardiac ward and got signed off for the entirety off the games, I saw pretty much everything on TV but still gutted I wasn't able to go in and watch any of the events

That only applies if you own your property. Hackney has torn down many housing estates and sold the land to private developers. Woodberry down is a prime example of that. The amount of social housing is minimal in comparison.

Were you on here for all the Olympics threads? The closing ceremony night was amazing.
