The Government are insisting that single sex toilets are installed in all new government buildings according to reports as women need their own space. Only flaw in the plan is that they have no money to build any more new buildings. |

Single sex toilets to me are the binary "ladies" and "gents" - is this thread about gender neutral facilities? In which case, we have them where I work. So far, cleaner and better than the gendered set up! |

I’ve noticed in few new buildings mostly garage workshops, the picture depicting male or female on the entrance door has a shared signage of male/female. It never works because no woman will go in there.. the women always find another toilet to use that’s not used by men.. |

Depends on the state of the toilet and the urgency of my need. I quite often use the men's when at large public events but then I'm often too d*unk to notice how grim it is. |

It's not about individual universal use toilets. It's about toilets where there is a communal waiting/hand washing area. There are some who find that intimidating for various reasons. |

Ahh yes that reminded me of my youthful years and d*unken nights out, the lasses would often use the gents the reasons given on guys protesting was “theirs a big queue at the women’s”
A bit disconcerting at first when having a pee at the urinal while a woman fix’s her makeup using the mirror next to you.. eye front lady’s |

I think lots of people are missing something here.
Ok we are all enlightened woke swinger's,open minded but not everyone in society is this way particularly the elderly.
Imagine a scenario
An old lady goes to use a public toilet and as she's walking in standing there is a bearded non binary person dressed in ladies clothing.
Whilst some may not see an issue it could be pretty scary for an older person or someone who doesn't understand.
We all deserve the right to feel safe doing what is a very natural act.
But I wouldn't feel comfortable taking a poo in a mixed toilet with a lady in the next stall to me whilst I unburden myself of a particularly large smelly load.
Noone deserves that horrific experience being next to me.

Reading another article, gender neutral toilets will be allowed along side single sex toilets, but interestingly the female single sex toilets must contain the wash basin and drying facilities (- exactly how gender neutral toilets are designed).
People can choose which facilities they are most comfortable with. |

Singles sex toilet make this More likely not less. Because Trans Men, and this transphobic policy would force them to use the ladies. |

Oh gawd can you imagine the dude who reckons he's been told that "if your neighbour wears a bikini in their garden it means they're giving you signals they want to fuck you" had a woman dropping their drawers in the cubicle next to him? 
There's already far too much upskirting going on so I'd hope beyond all hope that the cubicles would be floor to ceiling walls with no gap underneath or above for peeping/filming. |

Yea, imagine coming out of a cubicle to find someone washing blood off their knickers with blood stained hands,drying them under the dryer, listening to her moan about *fucking fibroids* under her breath. Then getting a "What!!" and a death stare when you stand there open-mouthed wondering why you had to be privy to this. |

By and large, there is only one toilet rather than a room with several cubicles in these scenarios.
I am very happy for gender neutral toilets in addition to male/ female/disabled anytime but I am not in favour of all in one solutions, having seen them on a number of occasions. They were filthy without fail. |

Yes it’s not the single toilets, it’s the dirty basted who don’t clean up after themselves or wash their hands after….and on that note my one word of advice is to never share that bowl of nuts on the hotel bar!  |

This is a dictat from central government for government buildings and possibly including Local Authority Buildings.
Businesses can probably do as they like and motorway services etc but not sure that would work well when a lady is trying to use the facilities and wash her hands when a rabble of d*unken Scottish football fans or any fans for that matter get off a coach and descend on mass into the toilets ... |
