In this context ‘fat’ has been used in a positive way so I’ve no idea why anyone would be offended. OP likes fat girls, there are lots of us fat girls on Fab. If you’re suggesting he shouldn’t have used that word it’s because you obviously associate someone being fat as a negative thing, clearly OP doesn’t.

A word is as strong as two things ......

The intent in which it is used.

The receiving of the word.

His intent was not bad, not to cause offence but use the word positively in this sense.

Some received it very differently, maybe because they only see the negative vibes the word can create.

Rosie isn’t offended by the word fat. She prefers chubby or wobbly as it’s cuter, but ultimately she has a mum tum, big boobs, a huge bum, and owns it. Personally I love every inch of her and we don’t need people to be offended on her behalf.

Actually it's an incorrect word to describe someone. Nobody is fat that isn't a body type fat is something you have not something you are. If people don't want to be described as fat that's that's their decision you don't get to decide whether they should be offended by it.

It's not me you need to ask, I didn't choose to post it.

There are other terms used that some dislike.

Slut, BBC, BBW for example.

There are other words what people like to take and make less negative also.

I believe his intent wasn't bad, maybe a little misguided assuming people will see that and not be so offended.

When is the world going to stop coming up with new, more PC words to describe things that have been described the same way since FOREVER?

So can a DJ still drop a fat beat?

Music would be fucked across the globe if he'd been pressured to drop a cuddly tune!

It's OK to be skinny, slim, average, fat or obese. If that's what you are. Want to change it?...eat more carbs or put down the pie! The choice is yours but just leave language alone. Fine, if you want new words use them but stop forcing people to drop words that are descriptive and were not designed to put you down.

FAT is a layer under the skin, if that's why you are big shouldn't we correctly describe you as someone with excess fat? "Fat" for short.

The fat people I have least problems with are those who openly say, "i am fat". Every day millions openly say "I am getting fat", then when they get there they shout at you for saying they're fat!!

I am white but if i get the hump because you call me white, do we all have to resort to non black, non brown, paper coloured, dulux pantone 356? Seriously words are just words. Actions speak far louder than any of them. Be accepting of what and who others are, be accepted for what and who you are, then, then we'd all get along just fine.

Yeah but when a bloke has the same fat content as a wall's sausage is it better to call him fat man than sausage man? The latter might make them very popular on FAB but only till he pulls his boxers down! Lmao

And with seriousness, self labelling is important here. I call myself fat. I don’t like BBW, because I don’t think of myself as big - I’m only 5 ft 3, need help to reach the second highest shelf in a supermarket, my feet don’t touch the floor on most chairs.

BUT. I’m fat.

If you don’t think of yourself as fat, if you want a different label, that’s awesome. There are loads of BBW and curvy threads around too. But I have a right to pick the label I want, and OP has the right to use the label he is attracted by and see if there are women who identify with it without being told he’s wrong.

And for me, when a man says he likes fat lasses, I make certain very specific assumptions: that he is comfortable with a protruding tummy or an apron and a small waist to hip ratio, also thicker arms and legs.

For clarity I did some research

The World Health Organisation state

BMI over 25 = Overweight

BMI over 30 = Obese

BMI over 40 = Morbidly Obese.

All rather unfriendly sounding but medically accurate…..I wonder what the reaction would be if those terms were used..

BMIs for most people give an indication of whether or not they are overweight but for people who are very fit and train alot (such as athletes), other methods need to be used as a BMI can give a false impression of a persons health (someone with a high muscle mass, with very low body fat could easily score over 25.

Whilst I have more body fat than I did when I was at my peak, there's not a lot of it and I'm very fit yet, my BMI is 25.

BMIs without context say very little about a persons body shape and fitness.

"In this context ‘fat’ has been used in a positive way so I’ve no idea why anyone would be offended. OP likes fat girls, there are lots of us fat girls on Fab. If you’re suggesting he shouldn’t have used that word it’s because you obviously associate someone being fat as a negative thing, clearly OP doesn’t.

Actually it's an incorrect word to describe someone. Nobody is fat that isn't a body type fat is something you have not something you are. If people don't want to be described as fat that's that's their decision you don't get to decide whether they should be offended by it. "

In the same way you don’t get to decide that everyone should be offended and that OP’s use of language is incorrect. It’s not incorrect, you just don’t like it.

I have fat, I am fat (I don’t agree it isn’t a body type - we all grew up describing people as fat and thin) and have no issue with OP choosing to say he likes fat girls.

Lots of people started jumping on him for his choice of word as though he’d done something wrong, he hasn’t. Just because you and others don’t like the term fat because you see it as negative doesn’t mean he’s wrong. He and others don’t see it as a negative thing.

If you don’t consider yourself as a fat person and being described that way would offend you, then OP isn’t for you. Surely it’s as simple as that isn’t it?

Whatever you do, don't use talking scales. I went on and the scales said 'One person at a time, please'.

That said, we're both fat and that's that, but it's the add-ons that are more offensive, you always get 'fat bastard' never 'curvy bastard'.

Well put "

Not well put at all because there's some major generalisations and hypocrisy in it's an hypocrisy in there. In fact there is hypocrisy all over this thread. The people commenting saying the OP didn't mean offence, and it's OK to call others fat, have said the exact opposite on other threads with a different OP.

Seems to very much depend on who the op is and who is commenting.

Huh?

I am not offended by the word what I am bothered is people saying nobody should be offended by it. I have also seen similar threads where an OP has been absolutely slammed for you for using the same word in the same context.

Some OPs love fat women. Some OPs hate fat women and are taking the piss. Hence the different responses.

No hypocrisy from me and I maintain that OP has done nothing wrong in using ‘fat’ as a positive description. You not liking it is entirely your affair. But if you’re going to react to every comment where someone agrees with something that goes against what you think you’re going to have a long day. Is it not better to accept that liking someone else’s choice of word or not is a personal choice?
