Out for dinner at a nice restaurant, and the manager come over to ask us to mind "her" language! Every 3rd word is a rude one!
And, since I'm a bloke, I'm wrong on two counts. Everything I do and everything I say, unless it has the Queens head on it!
I hadn't seen my 2 grandchildren for 2 years because of her "anger" issues she alleged I cause! Anger management says otherwise, but them and I, are obviously wrong. |

My family is dysfunctional anyway, so I don’t have much to do with them.
My friends are my extended family.
If they acted in a way to hurt me or mine, or disadvantage us somehow, then I would cut off contact. |

Severe conspiracy mongering
Repeated violation of my boundaries that doesn't get better no matter how I try to get them to see my perspective
Political activity that puts me or people I love in harm's way
Criminal activity of a violent nature
...
It hasn't happened, but I've got a few relatives on thin ice |

Invite me and my sisters to a wedding invite my sisters child but exclude mine, then I find out after she had my dads ashes in her shoe, my sisters and step mum were cool with it, so all in I cut of three cousins one child of a cousin, two sisters a niece and a step parent, yet they are somehow mad at me for not going to the wedding |

When I came out my parents found it very difficult. My older brother was extremely judgemental. To this day they never mention it. Sometimes I just think I don’t need this |

My father was a GP for over 30 years and one of the most shocking things he ever said to me was the advice if a family member is an alcoholic. If they sober up and stay sober then great, support in every way you can. However, if they don't then break ALL contact with them, as heartbreaking as that may be. |

Yes, a very close family member did something terrible to me. |

For me it's my brother's toxic Wife. Put up with her shit for 25 years, then Mum died and the way she treated me was the final straw, I have no time or energy for it so I just don't see my brother, he knows he is more than welcome to see me but I cannot have a relationship with her. |

Sending you virtual hugs. Sad to hear. Maybe this is one of the advantages of a site like this, as a safe place to share your private thoughts with people that don't know you, your friends or family. You can let it all out & hopefully feel a little better. |

I've done this to my step-dad and I'm much happier for it. Some people are really bitter and twisted and think nothing of hurting those closest to them. |

No one has mentioned the problem i have, i can't say it because it's to terrible to put into words. For the past few years they have been making life difficult for us but now they have done something so terrible that it's unbelievable.
It is interesting what people have mentioned though. |

I did from the age of 17, for 8 years and then various different time lengths after reconciliation. It took a final blow up 5 years ago to completely change our relationship for the better. Now we are all good.
Life is too short, some things just need to be worked at no matter how long it takes. Blood is blood. |

There is nothing that can make it better for me. Nothing to work at. They did something that means there's no going back. |

I have always found it difficult especially keeping my big mouth shut have upset two sisters at various times for above reason
People just expect it to slide but I won’t have big sister who I care for a great deal speak to her regularly and see her when up north
Her daughter not speaking to me now because I questioned something
Made her life better though because her daughter has listened
Think sometimes though discretion the better part of valor
Then knowing me and who I am
No just open my gob first spade is spade |

Sorry to hear that. Everyone’s situation is different and I’m sure there are some things that are just not returnable from.

My aunt (who married in to the family) is a lazy, scrounging cow who makes the most stupid decisions with money and won't listen to good advice. She's made several attempts to 'borrow' money from my dad, who is far too nice for his own good at times. Luckily, my mom...who takes shit from nobody, has pretty much told her to piss off and not try her luck again after he gave in to her once.
My dad and sister are the only ones who stay in contact with her, even her own kids have little to do with her- so she's definitely on borrowed time with most of the family. |
