Where’s your dream home?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Is it a log cabin in a wood with a log burner and nothing but the wilderness for a soundtrack or a white oak floored apartment with glass walls looking over a city?

Do you already live in the type of home you dreamed of?

Where is your dream home located and what type of place is it?

*no-one can hear their screams in the woods can they?

At this stage a house would do, just any house

If I won the Euromillions I would buy a place in Primrose Hill or Notting Hill. I'm Hackney born and breed and there are some beautiful parts there I would consider. I would love one of the "Frank Lloyd Wright" houses in Tuccon or somewhere isolated in the Mojave dessert. Mexico where the dessert meets the beach, somewhere in Sinola.

House where I can actually swing a cat. Bungalow, easy access, wide doors. Shower room, double bedrooms with breathing space. A level garden with planters. Underfloor heating, solar panels and a battery pack. Air/climate ventilation. Extra storage rooms, utility room. The Garage, that never actually gets used as a garage but as an external storage. You know the whole 9 yards.

Been thinking about this a lot lately.

Somewhere in the wilds of northern Finland, where the summer nights are long and so is the winter, with deep snow and the firefox dancing in the sky above.

Something old and grand that is in rack and ruin, that I can spend a decade doing up. In Wales. I have a list of about 5 I'd buy tomorrow if I didn't have family commitments...

Bishops Strortford

Anywhere with Belle, because she makes wherever I am home.

That said, for us it has to be Cromer.

Not very exciting, but it has an atmosphere we love and when the wind comes in off the sea we love to lay in bed, having a cuddle to stay warm and listen to the waves crash.

There is a retirement plan in place. X

Parents did this just on the coast west of Llanelli. It was stunning. We’ve always dreamed of having a little bit of woodland and a hobbit style house

Absolute shithole, full of ignorant arseholes who drop litter all day / everyday, lean on their hooters continuously (irrespective of what time of day or night it is) and spend more money on making their flash cars noisier than they do on the shitty houses ! ............and breath

Norfolk/Suffolk

Realistic dreams, probably where I am now, in the house I'm in now, with a little more renovating than I'm currently planning.

Unrealistic dreams, similar area to where I am, a little more secluded, more land. Probably self build passivhaus with lots of glass.

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

I'm beginning to think I'm rather like a Paul Young song....

Yer know "wherever I lay my hat, that's my home." That's the actual reality.

If I had to have a dream home it would be a new build eco house. One that is not reliant on gas or electrics. I'd also love to have a basement like they have in Canada & America. Kind of like a den/man cave.

Being isolated in the middle of nowhere would be great until you had a heart attack or chopped a limb off by accident.... Sorry for being morbid!

Can I have more than one?

If money were no object…

3 bed beach cottage in a specific nz location, lawn literally borders the beach, with a full wraparound porch

A detached cottage in the small town I grew up in so I can be near lovely friends, also coastal but in uk a place very popular with holidaymakers

Semi detached villa next door to best friend in southern med country

Would cost a mere £5 million

Of course the downside of living by the sea, is if you wanted to continue having fun with people on this or similar sites. If you live inland and drew a circle its all land. If you live by the sea, half of it would be water..
