What do you do to help you get through things you’re finding tricky?
I’m boring myself going on about my stupid uni assignment now, but I’ve extended the deadline three times and tomorrow is the final day to get it handed in. I’m on placement in the morning and then going away for the weekend in the afternoon, so I’ve got to get it done today and still have a sizeable chunk of it left. My technique has been working in short bursts with intermittent internet time but that’s just not going to cut it today.
Would love to hear how you motivate yourself to power through this kind of challenge.
I had a horrible night and my anxiety is awful so I’m going to stay with a cold shower to wake myself up and hopefully ease my anxiety! |

I make a list. And I work through that list and tick each one off. I always find I get through it that way, and I turn the music on to make the least enjoyable tasks bareable |

Good morning!
For me I divide whatever it is into small bits, and look at each one as a goal. Once I start reaching them it's good motivation to keep going and before realising it I'm far further along than I thought I could be |

I used to use sensory deprivation to get my uni work done. No phone, no Internet, no music, nothing to distract me.
Then I worked in 20 or 30 minute chunks (longer if my concentration held up).
Left my desk for a 5 or 10 minute break.
Return and repeat.
Very best of luck. |

Try to do small chunks at a time. If you have a large challenge or something you know deep down your never going to get done it one sitting or attempt. Break it down into smaller things, whether it be an assignment or sorting a room in the house, small little steps and just doing a small manageable portion of it will be you get a sense of achievement and a win. Always helps me anyway. |

Thank you! This sounds similar to how I work best I think. I just need to swap the work and break times around |

Well done! That’s really good going . I used to do yoga daily but my anxiety manifests as physical symptoms that scare me a lot of the time so I couldn’t face doing it as it made the weak muscles and trembling more noticeable. Whilst my therapist encourages me to do things that are scary and sit with the feelings, that just feels a bit too much for me at the moment x |
