What annoys you with other people’s behaviour at the gym??
It always winds me up when guys leave their dirty, sweaty kit lieing in front of my locker! And then they give you a funny look when they come back from the shower as they have realised you have moved it!! |

The new “film everything you do” trend
No one wants to see you do a bicep curl on your insta 3 times a week
And I don’t like having to try to dodge your camera in the gym |

I’m lucky in that i choose to train at 5:30-6:00am when the place is empty.
When I used the gym in the evenings, the posing peacocks and preening princesses pissed me off. Taking up space in the few squat racks to take 1075628 selfies. My other big bugbear is that space is premium at the gym I use, and I get seriously wound up at the people who stand/sit chatting socially while not using equipment. Just get in, train, leave. Want a social get together, go to the f’kin coffee shop! |

Saw a huge steroid monster doing incline press with heavy dumbbells. He let them hit the floor. One bounced back and smashed his phone.
Also hate:
Taking one of each pair of dumbbells for drop sets.
Setting up multiple stations
Not wiping down
Screaming
Sitting on a bench/machine scrolling SM (longest I have seen was 26 minutes)
Not grouping weight correctly when re-racking them.
Filming other people
Slamming weights down.
Having a mother's meeting around a piece of piece of equipment.
Bugging others.
Trying to jump on equipment when you have just gone for a water refill especially if you have left your bag/towel on it. |

People doing stacked/super sets that use a ton of equipment and then get pissed if you start using something that’s unattended. Like don’t be a dick…if I see a piece of equipment that is not being used and it’s next on my list to do I’m not checking with you if you’re on the other side of the gym doing something else. |

I could be here all day listing the things I hate about fellow gym goers.
I hate people that take all the dumbbells rather than just the ones they are using for that particular set.
I hate people who leave sweat patches on benches.
I hate personal trainers that are just doing it to be pervs. Also the clueless ones.
I hate supersetters when the gym is extremely busy.
I could go on.

Not cleaning up after yourself mostly. So leaving equipment wherever you used it, leaving your sweat or chalk all over everything, taking up workout space with jackets, etc.
Also trying to use two or more bits of equipment/machines at once when it's busy.
Unsolicited advise that is usually terrible or even dangerous.
Staring. Be subtle and considerate of people's comfort if you want to watch people and if someone clearly catches you looking, don't continue to stare at them. It's uncomfortable. |

The ones who drop the weights on floors which are not meant for them.
The ones who would leave lots of weights on the bar after finishing workout.
The ones who do workout right in front of dumbbell rack, blocking others' access to dumbbells on the rack.
The ones who hog the machine while using phone. I understand that some people need longer to rest. But it's usually easy to distinguish the ones genuinely resting to the ones just passing time. |

Also. If you're miffed at someone resting at a machine in-between sets you're doing the gym wrong.
Gym etiquette suggests you let someone do a set while you rest, sitting is not resting its sitting."
This maybe used to be a thing, but now everyone is more conscious of wiping everything down before others use kit. Also depends if you need to strip/add weights to the bar. |

Lemme just hop in there lil buddy and adjust the machine up to my settings so I can do one set and hop right off again! Proper efficient that. "

My gym has a really small stretching area but people do kettlebells etc there. And I hate when the area is clearly cramped amd someone decides to squeeze in to an already cramped Matt and sprawls out to do stretches. There are other places they can be done by the way. But people often think of themselves. |

One I’ve discovered recently, I use PureGym, which I know is cheaper and does attract the wrong type at times, but recently the amount of 16 year olds that are using it as a meeting area to then stand and chat at every single machine or bench is doing my head in |

I think every gym has the person who uses the cable machine with far to much weight on it, the form goes out the window and then the inevitable crash of the weights smashing together as they simply let go.
That noise, goes right through me. |

So it's a stretching area but the person who wants to use it for stretching needs to move? Not sure I get that logic lol |

I dont understand why so many people go to the gym asa lot go for the wrong reasons. Men go just to say look at me with my unatural looking body and women go just to take pics in tight outfits. Why not just be happy with who you are and not feel the need to impress anyone else. |

I’m tolerant to most things, but I am getting the hump with the influx of 16yr olds coming into the gym and leaving the changing room like it’s PE time. Bags, tops etc left over every square inch of the bench’s. So there is no room for anyone else to change.

I know lot's of people want to film their stuff
Maybe to check their form
Maybe to send to an online coach
Maybe for your Instagram page
Whatever
But it is a public gym, and if people walk in front of the shot then tough, and I've seen people get real pissy that someone's walked in front of their phone they set up 10vdoot away to get a good view |

I definitely dont put plates back in weight order. Maybe I should start. Do you put the lighter ones on ladt? Seems inconvinient though as i load up the heavy ones first for deadlift and squats. |

Our gym has different pegs for the various plates but where varied weights need to go on one peg, it's biggest on first. People who only use lighter plates shouldn't have to try and shift massively heavy ones out of the way but those who use heavier can easily move the lighter ones. |

Trying to jump on equipment when you have just gone for a water refill especially if you have left your bag/towel on it."
I knew there was a reason I hate going to the gym Lol! best thing though is that I know how to avoid the overused things but using the under-used things so that works for me. I go to the leisure centre because I like the pool and sauna and classes. They provide wipes so even if someone sweaty had been on before me I can wipe it down. I always shower after gym anyway. It's not the cleanest of places even with Covid. |

Just get trainers with a flat sole, not the squishy "air" types. They're not supportive for the gym anyway, they're designed for running. I know people who use Vans-type skate shoes, although weight lifting shoes aren't that expensive? You can get Adidas ones on Amazon for £30. |

Gym etiquette…
The best gym etiquette was always no etiquette because you didn’t need etiquette.
Because people weren’t dicks.
Gyms became shit when people with vacuous personalities subverted them into self-love parlours.
I don’t give a flying fuck.
I will wear my scruffy old gym gear, smile and just get in with it. Don’t hog the machine and clean it after.
The gym narcissist brigade can stand and pose and then kindly fuck off.
