There is a suspected case of foot and mouth disease in Norfolk and cordons are in place. The last time this happened there were thousand upon thousand animals slaughtered. What's going on here guys?

The world is on self destruction mode.

Only kidding but it is starting to feel a bit that way.

Everyday there is something else, a new illness, a natural disaster, wars, mass shootings, old illnesses we thought were long gone rearing their head, I'm not just talking about the uk here obviously.

I have stopped watching the news now though.

I believe tests have shown that it isn’t foot and mouth in this instance

I hope not.

It is a really unpleasant disease for the cattle and sheep and devastating for the farming communities.

I was up in the Borders at the time of the 2001 outbreak and at times it looked like a war zone with all the pyres on the surrounding farms.

Seems like what’s going on is someone was wrong, and then others were also wrong on the internet.

Turns out it is likely to be swine vesicular disease. Still sounds nasty though. Similar symptoms but appears to be only in pigs.

Quelle surprise. They're really going hard for the meat industry in the West.

God, even more people are gonna be struggling to find meats now.

(I'll see myself out)

Stay local or travel a bit more. You'll find farms willing to give out meats willy nilly....

Has this been a false alarm?

Is it a testicular problem in male pigs?

What makes you think it's testicular?

No. It's still to do with feet.

No. It's still to do with feet."

A vesicle is a small sac formed by a membrane and filled with liquid, like a blister

And it can be in the testicles.

Possibly a bovine STD

"And it can be in the testicles.

No. It's in pigs - i.e. porcine. And it's on the feet/hooves.

Bovine refers to cattle.

Nothing to do with a STD.

Yes.. porvine disease in pigs ..

Could be an STD if not foot and mouth...

We might never know.. the Minisy of Agriculture tend to dumb down reports

"

It couldn't be a testicular problem in female pigs !

Pigs are used to sniff out and find truffles.. it could be that spores from this fungi infects pigs like some sort of porcini infection.. the mushrooms that we buy in a supermarket are grown in sterile soil.. these wild pigs sniff out wild truffles which may carry bacteria and disease .

A porcini disease in pigs .

Some pigs got sick. DEFRA established a restricted area. DEFRA continues to investigate.
