City or Beach holiday?

I’m thinking of booking a holiday for later this year, and I’m undecided if I want a city or beach getaway.

So do I go for a lazy beach holiday, or a sightseeing city break?

What would you go for?

Any holidays booked?

I'd go for a lazy beach holiday at this moment in time.

Why don't you go somewhere like Palma Nova which is very close to Palma. This way you get the best of both. I am off to Alcudia in September for a 7day break.

Personally most beaches bore the hell out of me after an hour. There has to be much more to it than just a beach. Good snorkeling, cave systems, lovely beach town with plenty to see.

Cities can be interesting, but it's very dependent on where you go. Coventry wouldn't be my top destination

I think I prefer a countryside break. Walks in the woodlands, lakes to chill by and swim in, little villages to look around and stop for food.

I haven't got anything planned this year, but maybe try to escape to Scotland later on.

Swingathon is currently my main getaway.

Was about to say it depends on the city as Barcelona is amazing- but so much to see it’s far from relaxing if you only have a few days. Think I walked almost 30 miles in 4 days and that included getting the bus too

City breaks all the way.

I’ve never been one for lazing about on the beach.

In the west.

Where would you like to go OP?

I don't tend to stay in places for more than 4 days so I mix it up with cities and beach resorts. I hate those hi-rise concrete jungles selling sausage and chips & chicken tikka masala.

Somewhere like Barcelona or Croatia I’m thinking. 4 days to a week is what I’m looking for ideally

Barcelona has loads to do. Sitges is a small beach resort about 30 minutes away by train. It isn't hi-rise and has a very relaxed feel about it.

Athens is amazing. You could have a few days there then a ferry to an island, with an airport to fly home from.

I don’t blame you. Sun, drinks and a good book listening to the water sounds like heaven

Thanks, I’ll have a look at Palma Nova. I never considered Italy, which is silly as it’s full of culture and great food.

I’ve done the new forest and Weymouth so far this year. The new forest is lovely, lots of nice walks.

Do tell me more about swingathon…

Budapest is a stunning city and not too expensive.

I love the new forest!

Swingathon is a 4 day swinging festival in the middle of the Lincolnshire countryside at the end of the month. Going to be amazing!

Tickets are still available if you are interested.

If you (or anyone) want to know more feel free to message me as I don't want to derail this thread.

I’m combining both this September. Train to Paris then Marseille for five days. Train to Perpignan then a week on the beach. Train to Madrid then to Malaga for a week on the Costa del Sol. City stops at Barcelona and Paris on way back to UK.
